  • Just what I was looking for

I rarely write reviews for products, but Foreceipt has just been great. I was a refugee from another solution (that stopped parsing receipt photos) and Foreceipt have been nothing but easy to work with to import my old data, and have been responsive when I’ve found bugs in the auto parsing of receipts, and now it’s pretty much perfect.

I’m so impressed - they really value feedback. Running reports on data is so easy too. I can’t fault a thing. Thanks for developing this!

  • No scanning support for email receipts with PDF attachments

I just started to try this application with travel related expenses I wanted to track. I had airline booking emails, hotel folio summary of charges, and a number of printed receipts from dining out. The ability to photograph and import entries was nice that it could also support the photo album of receipt photos I took from the past. I did have to correct a few entries from the scans where tip amount entries written by hand were treated as some tax amount, even though this was already itemized on the receipts I was scanning.

My BIGGEST concern is that I could not create an expense by uploading a pdf, or by forwarding in an email that contains an attachment (typically a PDF) with the actual receipt details that needs to be scanned. Not sure how this will be useful to me since most hotel folios are comprised of room fees, parking fees, and eating/drinks/snacks that are worth tracking with different categories for expense reporting. I am suspecting that this is "too hard" and the app has simply dodged this important part of its use cases.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! What about splitting the receipts into multiple different categories after scanning? does this work for you? thanks!
  • Used to be five stars - Auto scan and auto crop don’t work

This app used to be amazing. I’ve been a customer since 2018. However, it seems that ever since the update in December of 2021, features have been missing or broken. My auto crop and auto scan features almost never work now, resulting in me spending 3x as much time organizing receipts. Some users seemed to have this issue resolved after bug fixes but I have not. If this issue can not be fixed, I will have to start looking at other options as these features have been the main appeal of the app.

  • New update is missing information in downloaded spreadsheets.

Very disappointed with the new changes that reduce the information in downloaded spreadsheets. Subcategories and Notes are missing. The new version makes it unusable.

They very quickly added the necessary information back into downloaded reports so I’m changing my review from 1 star to 4. They still have some bugs to work out from the latest version.

  • After 2021 update not as easy to navigate

The buttons on the bottom are Kim longer visible and now they are on the top as a drop down menu and that doesn’t make it easy access. It’s further away from the thumb. As well the display is so
Much larger I can’t see entire title of receipt such as name of restaurant or business if too long. It annoyingly displays the currency next to your dollar amount taking up screen space for information that is useful.

  • GREAT !

This has been the best investment for me. I get to categorize and organize everything in one spot. Tag it, write notes, create budgets per category, everything! It’s so easy and i manage multiple accounts (7 accounts currently)

I use the website a lot to upload bank statements- it’s tedious Bc it doesn’t directly sync to your bank account but I’ve gotten the hang of it and just deal with it Bc quickbooks just wasn’t doing it for me.

  • Tracks my receipts with ease

I was using ScanSnap Home with a Fujitsu scanner to track receipts. But that has really been a chore, especially after they rewrote the software, stripping many needed features. No iOS version is planned so I decided to look elsewhere as I need portability. I evaluated many different apps (Quickbooks Mobile , Expensify, etc) and decided on Foreceipt. It’s not perfect, (OCR needs work) but my workflow to track receipts is greatly simplified. I especially like receipts emailed to a special Foreceipt email address ( I purchase a lot from Lowe’s and Home Depot) are easily processed. Auto cropping paper receipts removes a lot of the guesswork when processing receipts. I get a great running total of my expenses and the PDF and Excel spreadsheet features work great. Data is stored on Amazon’s servers but I still keep my paper copies.
Support during my evaluation period, 3 weeks, was good but there were times when answers to questions concerning program operations took a few days. But support for when data hiccups occurred (twice) was very prompt and quickly addressed with no data loss.
The trial period is very generous, allowing premium features so you can really get a feel of how useful this app can be. Do what I did and give it a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

  • Life saver!

Since my encounter with the IRA a few years ago, I was encouraged by my replacement CPA to save my receipts in a shoe box for about 5 years. I’ve done that since. At least till a year ago. The problem with the receipts is the ink fade-away over time. Since finding Foreceipt I was reluctant and optimistic at the same time, but nonetheless gave it a try. Today I’m glad I did. Having digital receipt copies today is priceless. I would however like to see an improvement and functional budget feature in terms of recurring bills and also selected category sum.

  • No obvious customer service

I have been using this app for a few years to help with taxes. I have been having trouble with the app, “error -10” and my receipts are not uploading (the attachment is in red) and both the software and my iOS is up-to-date. I went online to try to get information and could not find any, so I tried the contact customer service and it forwarded me to a not secure external site. When you click on customer support, it links you to a feedback page and not a standard customer service page. You have to really search the page for what looks like a proper support email address. I found it under “how to write a review in App Store and earn free package”. So in other words, they will freely give you a free subscription if you give good feedback, but not help others who have problems when they pay for a subscription.

  • This app should seriously have it’s own holiday..Thanksgiving

I rarely write reviews but this app deserves a 20 minute standing ovation AND the kind of clapping that makes your hands hurt (yes it’s that good) so this is the least I can do! GET THE APP!
No more boxes of receipts and digging around in my purse, wallet, console, (even went through the trash before) looking for a certain receipt s as t tax time or when my girls say they need to return something I bought for them.
I can NOT tell you enough how much EASIER this app makes my life! You simply take a photo and it reads the information itself! You can create files. I’m an avid gardener so I’ve got my lawn and garden file. As a salon owner I’ve got individual files for salon supplies ...and being a single mom with 3 teens (2 in college & 1 in out of state military school) I’ve got files for each kid.. each of our vehicles etc. no more receipts out the wazoo! Yay! Thanksgiving honors go to .... 🥁🥁🥁 Foreceipt!!
