Amazing!

This is what we’ve been missing and our school has been missing to really make reading fun for my SK child and I’m only on day 2!!!!

Cannot Recommend Enough!

As a homeschooling parent, I can honestly say I would be lost without this app. I have used it regularly since me son was learning to read. He is now 10 and still uses it for spellings, reading comprehension and maths. As you can have more than one child’s profile on your account, my 5 year old daughter is now learning to read on it too. She is doing the phonics and maths programmes and asks for Reading Eggs in her free time! Both children really love the games and rewards too. I have never wanted to use any other app as both children have done so well with this. It’s easy to use and I love that you can adjust the level to suit the child at any time. I have also made good use of the lesson worksheets available. I often recommend this to friends or other homeschooling parents as I can’t fault it, it’s my absolute lifeline! I’m yet to hear one of my children complain about it! 100% recommended, whether you’re homeschooling or not.

Solves the problem

My 5yr old daughter is a little bit of a reluctant reader. Her concentration isn’t great and we only get 5-10mins when trying to read. We started reading eggs and she has really taken to it. I think because it’s in a game play format she enjoys it and we can get about 30minutes at a time. She loves to end a chapter and see which surprise comes out of the egg and the certificate at the end of each world is a great idea. She was really pleased with herself when she completed one. Her confidence with reading is growing so much. It also highlighted to us that she does know the stuff she just needs something to engage her more. I like how you can print work sheets off too. This way we can practice more writing elements.
I’m really impressed with this app and think it is perfect for any children but definitely children who lack a little concentration at times. We have made a start on the maths side too which also looks like it will be the right fit for my daughter.

Disappointed

Why is this so expensive? If i had to pay $100 one time and i had access to this forever then its worth it. But i need to pay $100 every year? Id rather teach them my selves at this point. Do better. Our kids education matters, paying this much makes it difficult.

Just signed up for a 1 year subscription

Initially signed up for the 1 month free trial, my son 4.5 who has never been interested in ‘homework’ actively asks to do ‘numbers’. Although he already knew how to count and to recognise numbers I found the repetition in different formats has helped him embed his knowledge and i have noticed he has got better at eyeballing pictures and estimating the numbers. He’s also learnt to recognise the spellings - which he didn’t know a month ago. We haven’t tried reading/ phonics yet - but looking forward to it. As long as he keeps up the enthusiasm- it’s money well spent.
And I haven’t even printed any of the free worksheets which is a good alternative to screen time yet

Buggy and some games are really frustrating with an iPhone

We were originally pleased with our purchase, however on using it more regularly we have encountered frustrating issues. The sound often stops working leaving us no choice but to close it mid-session and our daughter has to start again. More irritating than this though is how some of the games are laid out with drag and drop boxes - the items to drag are at the very edges of the page which means that when you try to grab them you accidentally grab the edge of the page and close the app. This is not just an issue for a child, both myself and my husband try regularly and have even used a stylus but to no avail. Makes the whole user experience stressful and annoying.
Glad we only paid for one month. It’s a shame as the content seems decent and my daughter was learning from it.

Great fun learning

I have love this for my daughter. She enjoys doing the levels and extra areas of the “game”. The only thing I find frustrating (and therefore not 5/5 stars) is the repetitive instructions and/or background music which cannot be turned off while my daughter is trying to work out the answer. So we are constantly turning the volume up and down. Just have a built in setting option to turn background music off and have a button within the activity to repeat verbal instructions instead of automatically repeating it every 10 or so seconds (not all activities do this, but the ones that do are extremely distracting and annoying). That way the kids can focus on working out the answer if they don’t know it straight away.
