  • Good idea but needs more.

This is a great idea, and Triple Triad was one of the things I loved the most about Final Fantasy VIII. I do feel like there is room for improvements however. I feel that it would be great to have a bit more added to it.

First of all I appreciate the effort to try and bring a beloved mini game to my iPhone.

However if my iPhone 6 cannot play with game without visual glitches then it definitely needs some work.

The game itself is also incredibly difficult compared to the source game from FFVII. If you lose your very first match then you cannot continue. You must re-set your card collection. Not a huge problem at the beginning. But I had to re-set my collection after three wins and one loss, not something I'd be eager to continue gambling as I went through the game.

There is potential here and I certainly hope this app will be developed further.

  • Best mini game ever!

True to original form. A little buggy, but nothing intolerable. AI is a little poor. I beat the game much faster than In FFVIII. Regional rules should alternate between opponents (same, diff, plus, same wall, elements). Maybe we'll see that in future updates. I would LOVE to see multiplayer, local and online, and would pay for the ability.

  • Just what I wanted!

I have loved final fantasy since I first played the series, I always hoped at some point someone would make a card game that was exactly like the final fantasy VIII one. The game has bugs but It doesn't affect the game in a way that I'd give less than 5 stars!

  • Nostalgia trap

Initially a nice trip down memory lane but the only option of play is a tier system to climb against an ai... The cards each tier uses is very predictable with little variation... If they'd add the random rule and/or include/exclude some of the other rules it would have recreated my adolescent experience better... If you want a couple hours of fun go for it... But I'd recommend just buying ff8 on the play station network instead!

  • Nostalgia comes at a price...

I'd rather pay £10 and buy the game outright, being able to unlock the cards in progression than be drip fed cards for a premium. Instead I'm not going to get sucked into another mediocre money grabber.

The difficulty curve is insane too, it makes it impossible to consider investing in the micros transactions when getting past the first character with a full deck intact is such a mission.

Overall, a great idea but you could easily spend more money on this in an hour than it would cost you to buy a ps1 and final fantasy 8 on eBay.

For those who despise disproportionately over valued micro transactions, avoid this like the plague.

  • Great. Buggy but easily maneuvered around

I find that when I lose a game, lose a card, and go into the card selection screen after returning to the main menu, some cards are missing. I just hit "back" to return to the main menu and then re-enter the card selection and everything is returned to normal.
In game it seems as if you drag a card over an identical card it picks up the identical card on the game board already in play. I'm sure this is old news. I'm glad I have this, though.

  • Great game - FFVIII fans will love it

Great port based on a really fun game. The original music and characters makes it all the more fun. My only criticism (and reason for not giving 5 stars) is there are bugs:
    - when selecting new cards every time , you need to go to the "cards" menu twice as first time it won't work
    - if you play a card which is the same as one that has already been played, careful you don't drag one over the other as otherwise the games gets confused as to which card you are playing!!

Other than these small glitches the game is awesome and as good as I found in FFVIII. Thanks very much for making an awesome game!

  • Marred by bugs.

I really wanted to like this game and relive the games I played in FFVIII, but this game is really too buggy to properly enjoy. The rules aren't laid out, the game starts you with very underpowered cards, no rematch option, and cards seem to disappear or reappear regardless of whether you win or lose, and once you have lost/gained cards, it's really hard to build your deck with the cards available due to bugs preventing you from selecting them.

Pass on this game. Not worth the download.

  • Very buggy

I was so excited when I saw this in the App Store I had to download it instantly. But there are a few big flaws to it.
One being card selection. The card select screen is extremely buggy. As well as if you have two of the same card in a card battle it bugs out when you use the second one.
Two being the rules of the game. Plus and Same are definite rules that should occur in EVERY instance that there is a plus or same connection and it makes it very difficult to play when sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Half the time it works against you instead of working for you. Also not necessarily a bug but as in the original game there are different trading rules that may come about as well as random/sudden death/elemental. Maybe I didn't get far enough into the game to see these rules to come about but just to state that they were not shown.
Third not being much of a bug but I feel as though the more difficult level of character you play against or at least the more difficult player you play against should not only have better cards but also give you extra Gil for winning
