Amazing
Great lectures that mix academic depth with down to earth delivery.
Best podcast ever!
Iโve never found such a perfect blend of education and entertainment. Itโs a must listen!
I am a little late to the party
I discovered this podcast in September after returning from Europe including a stay in London. I went to the British Museum twice while there (it was great). This podcast is really making me regret the missing context, context I will have next time I go. I have been avidly listening during my 30 minute commute each day, during exercise, and on weekends. The story telling is great and the research is solid. This is the way I like getting my history fix!

Broke my arm and started at the beginning
I had BHP in my podcasts and started around the time of Aethelflad. I had just reached the point where I was getting anxious about when the next podcast was coming when I broke my arm.
I went back to the beginning and, though I slept through some of shows where the interviewee was almost unintelligible, Iโm hoping I donโt heal so fast that I donโt catch up. Even the many iterations of Osw- names did not deter me!
Iโm astonished that there could be so much of history that Iโve never heard of and that it can be made so interesting! Kuddos to Jamie for shining at light on the Dark Ages!

The British History Podcast
Amazingly thorough and well researched on the current literature regarding British History. Great arguments drawing from multiple sources allowing one to draw personal conclusions. Engagement in the community created by the followers is encouraged through all forms of social media. All of this and, yet, NOT at all dry in the delivery (compared to some history classes Iโve taken!). I appreciate the compare/contrasts that incorporates current popular culture and as each episode ends I enjoy reading the responses from fellow listeners to add more depth. Jamie, as the researcher and narrator, is warm and engaging. He includes notations about his family, friends and pets, so one feels as if one is part of a โfamilyโ adventure into the vast intricacies of historical Britain! Apart from my personal affinity to British History, I am a โYankโ married to a โBritโ and this podcast has given me some insight into some of the finer points of the British national identity! Thanks!

5/5 for content but the app lets it down
First of all, let me say that I LOVE the BHP - Jamie is an excellent narrator and you can tell that he has researched each and every episode, and spent a lot of time doing so. Also Producer Zee is a rockstar and I love when she turns up and they bounce ideas off each other.
I've been listening to the free podcast for a couple of years, and when I got up to date, I decided to become a member and paid for a year's membership. I decided to do this as I had enjoyed the clips and odd episodes that Jamie released every now and again.
Now while these episodes are still excellent, the app is not. I normally listen to my podcasts on the go, and so tend to download them at home and listen on the train. With the member's feed, it only streams and I just don't have the data for that. Then it will crash after I've listened to an episode, and I have to do and reopen the whole app. If it crashes in the middle of a show, or I have to pause halfway through, it doesn't store where I'm up to, so I have to guess. And finally it doesn't have a way to know which shows I've listened to, so I can miss some, and repeat others.
All in all, while I love the show, I hate the app, and this is what my rating is for. It makes listening to the member's feed a real faff.

The British History Podcast
This podcast is superb. Jamie has undertaken the massive task of casting the WHOLE of British History. He does this on a weekly basis in a relaxed, witty and irreverent style. I stumbled on this by accident and within 3 episodes I was hooked. I dare you to try the same. Go ahead; take my challenge! I'm currently playing catch up and have reached the end of the C7th CE. That's about 3 years of weekly casts! 3 years folks! I still have over a hundred casts to go to catch up. Jamie offers all of this for free. He also has a cheap monthly members fee. This gains you even more in depth and specialist programmes. Brilliant. Utterly brilliant. Get on board, don't miss this train!

Best. App. Ever.
As a budding archaeologist, I think this app takes a brilliant approach to history, including the one liners and pop culture references! ๐๐
Awesome show
History the way everyone should learn it. Told in a friendly way but well researched. No useless names and dates without their context. I love this show.
