  • App does not connect

For a 4k machine’s tech to not work is just insulting. I stopped using the Octane app with my elliptical because of too many connection and tracking issues to note. Hoped developers fixed them and just tried again - doesn’t even connect with my machine anymore.
  • DO NOT LOGOUT!

December 2023 - If you are a current user, do not logout. You will not be able to log back in and therefore this app will be useless.

For me, this app is essential for convenience in setting up and using the various programs in my Octane Fitness xR6xi. In fact, this model cost extra to enable use of this software app. I’d give this app a 4 star rating if they would support it.

If you need to run this software on a new device, backup the app to iCloud and restore it to the new device.
  • Really disappointed

I spent several thousand dollars on this machine and I can’t even sign on as a new user to the app. I get halfway through process and it says my information is already in use and I haven’t even finished the sign up process. I can now see why the ratings for this app are so low. The app is an integral part of the fitness machine and it doesn’t work? Pitiful
  • Nearly Worthless

When calories sync to Apple health for workouts done on elliptical, calories burned gets divided by 1,000 as if converting from kilocalories to calories except they are already calories. So a 250 calorie workout becomes a 0.25 calorie workout. Just great.

The app sometimes stops working altogether. I’ve found that deleting it and reinstalling it then gets it to continue to limp along.

I’ve been waiting for the new app for years and at this point I doubt it is actually forthcoming. Octane keeps sending me ads for new equipment but I’m ignoring them until I see some commitment to supporting the equipment I’ve already invested in.
  • Like a distracted driver

Crashes frequently. When it works I like it but the developers obviously don’t care about the product. Never see any updates. Usually takes 2 attempts to connect with elliptical and sometimes just stops in the middle of the workout.
  • There is no way to connect to Gym Machines!

Giving this application 1 star is more than it deserves, it’s a zero in my book. I go to a gym where they have Octane machines with a USB port and there is no way to connect to the machine to track my workout. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Octane machines and they are my go to! But, this application is so poorly designed it cannot simply connect and keep track of a workout with a professional gym level machine. I will be deleting this application as there is absolutely no reason to have it on my phone if it cannot simply connect to an Octane machine and store my workouts. Calling this manufacturer’s application a Failure is understating their failure!
  • What happened to the instructional/coaching videos??!

Update: this app stopped working completely on iOS 14.7.1. PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP—IT IS ABOUT TIME!

This app used to be great. Since the last update all instructional/coaching videos got removed. I even spoke to their customer service; they’re aware of it, but had no explanation as to why the videos were removed. All I can think of is that they must have been threatened to be sued by either the coaches or some other entity that they copied. Very disappointing!!! The app doesn’t count down either, as it used to do and as others have been complaining about. If they had to remove the videos, at least make sure that other features work properly!
  • Update is a downgrade

I was looking forward to this update. I liked version 2 but the graphics were kinda clunky and connection to the machine not always reliable. Well, they’ve fixed that. Graphics are improved and connection works well for me.

But they also took away a ton of functionality that I liked. The ability to have the app set a 30, 60, or 90 workout program was something I used a lot. Gone. The ability to manually change resistance level mid workout. Gone. Even something as simple as what’s coming in the random workout - basically, to know you’re coming up on a hill before you get there - gone.

I have no idea what they were thinking when they made these decisions. Given the opportunity I’d rather revert to version 2. And of course support for this app is nonexistent. No detailed users manual anywhere, no ‘help’ functionality, just a two minute intro video that covers the very obvious basics.

In sum, this app is an amateurish hack job unbefitting a $4000 piece of workout equipment.
  • App needs work

This app is a mess. It hardly ever connects. You have to connect just to open the app and see what’s there. So you’re on your machine ready to go and have to connect to the app. And most of the time it doesn’t even connect. I stopped using it after the first few tries.
  • My iPhone can’t connect to my machine all of a sudden

I’ve been using the app successfully with my 37xi since August and now it can’t find the machine when I tell the app to connect. I’ve checked all of the settings and deleted and reinstalled the app. Help!
