Greatly expanded unit library. Now we have 1059 units in 26 categories. Convert between decimal, hexadecimal and roman. Convert between time (period) and frequency. New unit categories: force, torque, acceleration, illuminance, luminance, electric charge, density, equivalent dose, data transfer rate. Many new units of length, area, volume, mass, speed, pressure and energy, including troy ounce, tons of TNT equivalent, hectopascal, rack unit, and even shēng, mǔ, fēn and liǎng. Better system integration. Select text in Safari, press Share, choose Convert and Ångström will convert the value in the text. In application’s 3D Touch menu see three last results and an option to paste and convert. Better voice and text recognition, better iPad Pro support. Everything is better. What do you think? Upgrade to the full version, if you like Ångström. And we will appreciate your review in the App Store. Also, you can reach us directly at @ilyabirmannet and @bealex.

We now show an example when you open the app to help you figure out what to do even faster. When converting local time we now find cities by timezone codes (like PST or CET). New units: gallon per minute, gallon per hour, kilopascal, megapascal, technical atmosphere and millimeter of water. We also now understand the words “quid” and “buck”. We’ve also slightly redesigned things: numeric keyboard now larger, the About screen now accessible with a gear icon. We will automatically adopt the new system font when iOS 9 becomes available (it will look great!). Improved voice recognition, much improved VoiceOver support. Added German localization (special thanks to Pascal Kreil and Dmitri Evmenov). What do you think? Upgrade to the full version, if you like Ångström. And we will appreciate your review in the App Store. Also, you can reach us directly at @ilyabirmannet and @bealex.

1.5.2

August 1, 2015

Small update. Works better on the Apple Watch (because we now have an actual Apple Watch to test). Better recognises speech. Knows new units: hp, hpE, PS, kw·h. Includes bug fixes and optimisations (of course). To use Ångström on the Apple Watch, launch it and say “five kilograms in pounds” or “seventy-eight Fahrenheit in Celsius”. Or ask a question: “What time is it in San-Francisco when it’s five o’clock in London”. What do you think? Upgrade to the full version, if you like Ångström. And we will appreciate your review in the App Store. Also, you can reach us directly at @ilyabirmannet and @bealex.

Description of Ångström, the unit converter

Convert units, currencies and timezones faster than you type. Start with the number, then type one or two letters and see the result. Use dedicated numpad to avoid switching keyboards. Forget digging through endless unit categories in urge to find the one you need (although you can do it when in adventure mood). If the number is in your clipboard, we’ll pick it up. We learn what you convert to make better guesses over time. We keep currency rates updated, but show you approximate values when offline. We support alternative spelling of many units. Type “45f”, get Fahrenheit converted to centigrade right away. Or maybe you meant feet to meters? We’ll show that, too. We know, by the way, that it’s natural to convert feet to meters, but miles to kilometers. Get timezones conversion and more units with in-app purchase. Or just show your support by upgrading :-)

Reviews of Ångström, the unit converter

  • Great converter

I’m using the app for more than 2 years so far, it’s a great way to convert measures from imperial to metric and vice versa. Never failed me. Especially when most people choose to look up those things on the internet this app is a life savior when you don’t have a stable connection.
  • Using it for years

This is the best converter ever. The one ultimate converted you’ll ever need. Thank you developers, this product is great.
  • Finally got rid of all my other conversion apps

This is The One. It’s faster than any others and has every conversion I can think of / have ever needed. I do some weird stuff at my job and for my hobbies, so I had built a collection of conversion utilities that were each good for certain things. All but Angstrom have been deleted.

Give it a try - that’s the only way you’ll know if it works for you.
