It used to be great

Until the update made it that you have to buy subscription. From free to straight subscription model is a bold move. At least have one off fee or limited anchors for free

Great app

Update: I wrote to the developer and he responded quickly to allow me to get the features I enjoyed before. Happy with it now.

Previous: Was a great Great app. Use it all the time but they have now moved to a subscription model and long time users are not grandfathered in I guess. Can do anything with it now. What a shame

Great GPS app and simple user interface

I have been using this app to track my parking location for many years. The app is simple to use with clean user interface. Definitely will recommend to my friends and families.

Hero to zero

The stealth change to a subscription model and then that model being entirely overpriced means this app has gone from being pride of place on my Home Screen to now being deleted. A great example of what not to do. Take a look at the model Clear use to remain free - but paid for.

You are the BEST!

Never had such a simple solution from any software support before! For years I have loved the app’s simplicity and accuracy. I use it very often when in a rush in an unfamiliar area. Then one day suddenly I was no longer able to use any of its wonderful functions without paying something or subscribing. However, since I already paid to use the app, I wrote support to see whether there was a way to turn off the nag screen? Within a day they emailed me back I a link to fix the glitch and get back unlimited access. One tap and issue resolved! My only regret is that I can only give you 5 stars… You deserve an entire galaxy of them!

Hello. Thank you for using the pp and for this feedback. About directions: this app based on GPS locations, and it gives you direction and the distance. This is unique and different from ordinary directions. But it allows you to use the app without an internet connection. About the icon: I'm just trying something different. It's just a temporary experiment. You still can change the app icon back to the original in the Anchor Pointer Settings > App Icon. P.S. Take care of yourself ;) - Alex, developer of the app.

Great design, bad ethics

I have used this app for years. It has taken me back to my car in unfamiliar cities, led me in and out of the wilderness back and forth from spots I wanted to return to, and even helped me remember where the heck I’m a giant parking lot that I parked. It was a tool I relied on and trusted.

…but no more.

I get it. Developers need to get paid. Here’s the problem: I *did* pay for it, and now I’m expected to pay for it again and again. When this app went to a subscription model I wasn’t rewarded as someone who’s used the app forever. I was simply surprised with a demand for a few bucks when I went to a Christmas parade with my family and needed to park on an unfamiliar side street a few blocks away.

This has been one of my favorite go-to apps that I’ve always shared. Now it’s just a tragic story of lots of thought on design and none on appreciating the current customer base. Sad.

Not worth it due to subscription model

Another app going the subscription model route. The cost is $60 per year. Not used enough to justify the yearly cost. I will delete the app.

Update:
Upon reaching out to developer, I was granted full access to app. App works well when no internet is available.

This was a nice basic app that I’ve used for several years. They recently updated it, but then required people who updated to pay a fee- without informing them that this was part of the update. I consider that deceptive practices. I understand that a person should be paid for work, so they should seek donations or inform users ahead of time, but for $60 a year I’m ditching it.
