  • Excellent timer

I've used this app for a few years. I had been using a different app, but that one had gotten too full of itself, and had added requirements for using it and just too much content that I didn’t want or need. I just wanted a mellifluous timer. This one fits the bill nicely. It’s easy to use, works flawlessly, and has a good range of sounds. I would like to see added the ability to time in seconds, since I do use it for timing other things.

  • Beautiful, Well-Designed

Beautiful to look at, intuitive to use, and truly gratis —this timer is a gift made from hard work, strong design skills, and a pragmatic understanding of what most meditators most need in a timer.

It’s elegant and not cluttered up with in-app purchases and hints that you need to buy them. I love that it’s totally free to everyone but the designer will accept tips, consistent with traditional practice of many of the great meditation teachers who lead meditations for free but accept voluntary offerings from those who want to and can give something in return to support their work.

This is the best app. I’ve found for meditation. The only issue I have is occasionally it doesn’t respond to my iPad or iPhone Bluetooth feature no matter what I do except delete the app and download it again. This gets the Bluetooth connected again…go figure. Just takes a minute. Because of this I have stopped responding negatively to this glitch. It has just become part of my meditation. If I keep expecting the world around me to conform to my expectations it will totally disturb my meditative peace so, I just let go and fix it. It has become a non-issue issue. 😌
Thanks to the developer…great app. 🙏

  • UPDATE

I have given one star in the past, but the developer fixed the problem I had after I downloaded iOS 15.3. I haven’t tested to see whether it’s going to remember my settings, but it played my chosen background music and made a sound to begin and end meditation at my set number of minutes. Next we’ll see if it remembers my other sounds.

    LATER

I complained about this app before, but the developers have made it work PERFECTLY now! I have iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 17.1.2, and it works! This has got to be THE BEST meditation app available on the App Store! I tried several others, and they all stank compared to this one. I’m so glad I paid for it because it is worth every penny! Have no fear to buy this app because it is great!

  • Meditation Timer

I really like this app. The sound is perfect for a calming and gentle lead into meditation which I think really helps get body and mind settled especially after a long and hectic da. Sound both before after and within facilitates meditation practice.
I used to sit at a well known Zen Center in Rochester. There we had a large bell calling us to the Zendo about 15 or 20 minutes before the formal meditation started.
Also a hand held bell was struck by one of the senior students in the Zendo right before we started each round of zazen, and also signaling us to start a round of kin hin or walkimg meditation and again when we were to return to sitting.
At any rate, bells are a traditional part of zen practice and have been used for a couple thousand years. I have heard a lot of them and the sound created by this app is definitely one of the most pleasing.

  • Solid Meditation Timer

I have been using this app for many years. I set a timer for 10 minutes and assign a bell to ring every two minutes to remind me that my mind is not clear. You can change the sound of the bells and the overall time and the interval times. It has a variety of background sounds, I have used before as well. My needs are not great, and this is perfect. Somewhere along the way, I think I donated some money to the person who made it.

  • Now My Favorite

After using other apps, this is my favorite. It’s simple to use, has a lovely design, and lots of choices for background sound. I especially like the OM chanting. It makes meditation practice as easy as reaching for my iPad. Highly recommend. Thank you for sharing this with us.
  • Too many bugs. Very distracting. Why haven’t I given up yet?

I try to use this app regularly and it doesn’t work. Sometimes it won’t gong on the intervals. Sometimes it does. Today, it made popping noises during the interval gongs. It sounded like distortion or peaking in the audio recording of the gong. Very loud pops compared to the quiet gong. And then at the end of the meditation, the gong did not sound. I find this all very distracting and it makes it difficult to sink into my meditation. Especially not trusting it will go off when I set it. So I set a backup alarm now to go off when the app malfunctions. I’ve never used this app and had all features work as expected. My boyfriend introduced me to this app and it works beautifully on his phone and iPad. He has older versions of both. I have a very recent iPad and iPhone. Possibly why? I don’t know. But I wish it would work so I could create some consistency in my practice when we meditate together and when I meditate alone. I will change this review to more stars when it starts working better.

  • Wonderful, simple app

I meditated for years with one of the most famous meditation apps that tracks your progress, lets you amass “streaks,” has lots of bells and whistles. Those were great for getting me motivated. But once my practice had progressed, I no longer needed all those extras, and I wanted to stop paying for what I wasn’t using. I looked for something simple, yet calming. This app has a good library of sounds and an effective timer. I’m using it every day and I love it! Thanks to the developer for providing this essential, simple and lovely app.

  • Love love love

As to can tell from the title of my review, I really like this app. ;)

It's simple and straightforward. The reason I love it so much is the bell or gong or whatever that takes you into and brings you out of meditation is the best. The gong sound is so true to life. It has a deep, rich sound and it keeps going for a good long time, just like a real life gong or ringing of a singing bowl or what have you.

Insight Timer also has a timer feature of you don't want the guided meditation but their bells/ gongs are so brief it's jarring.

This is now my favorite meditation app. Highly recommended!
