Gets boring, nothing new for years

Edit re. developers response: Regularly changing the design? I’ve seen minor changes once. Adding new features? Hasn’t happened. 3+years scientific research not to make a single addition to the app, really?
Original review: I’ve had this for a long time now, I progressed through it and enjoyed doing so enough. However, it’s very simplistic, boringly so, it’s not overly stylish, and all but a few calming games (that I found instantly dull), there have been no updates and no new additions for years. I’m not convinced this game has done anything for my intelligence, I just got better at the games as you would with any game, I don’t feel like my arithmetic or language or any skills have improved for doing so. However, ultimately it doesn’t work for the simple fact that it’s boring. As mentioned, there are limited, dull games that have not been updated or added to in years, making this pointless, even if I felt I had been improving, I would have needed something to keep me using the app to maintain those improvements. 3 stars because I enjoyed it for a year or so.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us; we really appreciate it! We will take it on board for future improvements of Peak :-)

Motion sickness trigger on several games - no warning given.

I’ve been subscribing to Peak for a few years now and it’s moved at a snails pace with development. Games haven’t significantly changed in all the years I’ve subscribed. ‘New’ games are now very old. Criteria for ranking up is complicated and sometimes there is no incentive to even try.
I suffer from motion sickness quite badly and despite feeding this back to the developers a few times now over the last 5 years they have done nothing to warn people about this, they have clearly never suffered motion sickness themselves or they would take it more seriously. There are at least five games that should carry a warning for people with this, they ignore it and still fail to provide the appropriate care for their paying users. They give you the option to note other things such as colour blindness, language, dyscalculia and dyslexia but why not motion sickness when one game actually put me in bed with the room spinning for 24 hours I was so sick after playing it. Come on Peak Developers…take a more responsible attitude to this. Thank you.

The app developer has obviously given up on this app. It’s glitchy & boring.

This app was really good when I first started to play, now there’s games that I can’t play as they don’t work. Word path is one of them. It just won’t accept the letters. Spin cycle has never worked. You watch the shapes and look at the colours, then you tap whether it’s correct or not. For example it shows a yellow square rotating in a clockwise direction. It shows a red square is this correct, you answer no, and it tells you you’re wrong! I have reported this to Peak and there answer is that some of the questions are trick questions to catch people out. I’m not stupid and I get that concept! Years later it’s still unplayable.

Then there’s the games. They haven’t had a new game for years. They’re getting boring, and once this year is up I’ll stop. Just not worth the money at all. Used to be really good with helpful tips on how to play maths games etc. not anymore.

Extremely grateful to Peak- my anchor

I don’t know what was going on with my brain, but suddenly I could not follow new instructions, accurately recall basic personal information about myself, accurately use measurements / math, even put my clothes on correctly. My mind was spiraling into a cognitive funk that impacted my daily life and livliehood. At the suggestion of a neurologist, I started daily training with Peak over four months ago (with a Premium subscription- no way my brain could handle ads early on).

The daily training with Peak has been an anchor line that I have used to climb out of from the depths of a punky brain and climb back to normalcy. It grounds me, it works on many aspects of my brain. While no one can pinpoint why my brain dove into that funk potential culprits were young widow grief, long COVID, small town gossip, and financial stress. No matter why my brain “stopped working”, I NEVER want to go there again. It is horrible to not have your brain work. I love thinking. I feel that my daily Peak training has helped me return to normal brain function and build resilient neurological pathways to prevent future cognitive decline.

My all time favourite but needs more updating

I’ve been playing Peak for years now. I love it. There is plenty of room for improvement though. 1- some games are never updated. Perfect example is Word Pairs. I’ve been getting the same words for years, it’s like they never ever updated it and it gets boring to see the same word combinations over and over. The problem is that you after a while you learn the combinations and it defeats the whole purpose of improving your skills since you know what to expect and look for it. Many games suffer from this 2- Sound FX is terrible. In many games I have to turn down the volume really low because the high pitched tones make it unbearable to sustain concentration. 3- finally, it seems as though once you’ve reached your cognitive/concentration limit, some game start becoming boring. Eg. Tap Trap, you do better and better until at one point the thing moves so fast that it’s humanly impossible to progress, (like Tetris in the past) then you just lose interest in the game because you know you will never get better. There needs to be a way to design the games in a way they can scale properly to keep interest. Anyway, I hope this is constructive enough. Many games need a lot of tweaks to perfect them. I love the app and I’m a lifetime subscriber

Maybe not 90 mins of ads for 2 mins of homework?

Terrible

Hi there! Thanks for your review. To keep providing a free version for Peak, we're trying to find ways to monetize the app enough with ads to enable us to keep working on the app without our users having to buy Peak Pro. This is why you have to watch short ads to unlock more games. :-)

Update of content is needed

I use Peak for quite some time and it is becoming a bit ‘same old-same old’.
I keep on updating thinking new content will be introduced but so far ‘same old-same old’.
The language games are the same, the focus and problem solving games are the same. I no longer find it challenging to get back to play the games.
The payed content within is more or less similar to the games that are already available so it makes me question if I should keep my subscription.
And I enjoyed this app very much.

Hi there. Thanks for your review! The truth is we don't release new games as often because games have to go through an intensive scientific research process that takes quite a long time, but this helps us to make games meaningful rather than release any game. We are also working on changing the design of Peak regularly and are adding new features.

Way too many ads

I really enjoyed using the peak app for so long but there are now way too many ads.

Most people would be ok with some ads between games but they are after every single game and it slows it down way way too much. Lost interest after the second game because of how long it was taking. Understand every company is trying to push to get you to use premium and I don’t think anyone would care if there were some ads but this is actually deterring you from using it at all because you spend more time watching ads, than you do actually trying to play the game.
It’s actually pushed me to delete the app because there is no point having it the way it is now
Really disappointing

Ok but…

Far too many ads. I seemed to spend more time waiting for the ads to finish than actually playing the games. Such a shame. Anyway, I’ve had enough so I am deleting this app now.
