Too few buses

Why so few buses used? Why do drivers take frequent breaks parked with no movement for 15 minutes at a time? leaving students stranded and late for class? Very poor service. Seems to be something you advertise to prospective student families to show how awesome tech is on paper.

Response from developer

Hi, the GT Buses app is unaffiliated with the university so the best way to make sure your feedback is addressed would be to reach out to GT Parking & Transportation directly. They’re usually pretty responsive when I’ve contacted them in the past so they should get back to you fairly quickly. I’m just a former student who built this app while attending GT so I unfortunately have no control over the bus service itself (I merely display the bus info in app form to make it easier for students to know where the buses are). I’d be happy to incorporate any feedback you may have regarding how I could improve the app itself but as far as the buses themselves, that’s unfortunately something only GT Parking & Transportation has the power to change. Buses show inaccurate locations

The bus drivers don’t turn on their gps so we don’t know where they are and it’s so annoying

Missing routes

Needs to add the routes

Response from developer

Hi, would you mind clarifying which routes are missing? The app supports all routes currently running on campus, namely: Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Midnight Rambler, Emory, Grocery, NARA-TEP, Tech Square and Charter. If you don’t see one of these routes in the app, you can enable it by tapping the circle button at the bottom right corner of the map or by tapping the wrench icon at the top right of the screen to open the app settings, then tap “Toggle Routes”. From there make sure there’s a checkmark next to the routes you want enabled.

Frustrating “zoom out” behavior

Great job on the app! Two things though:
1. Every time I zoom into the app, it zooms me back out if I’m moving. Its super annoying to use if I’m walking for that reason. Please get rid of that.
2. The names of the routes are not legible. Consider changing the UI there to have it fit.

Meh

The time estimates are wrong 100% of the time, the buses randomly stop for ten minute periods, the second biggest route (red) isn’t even on here

Response from developer

Hi meiieeeeeeeeeeeeeee, unfortunately I don't have any control over the time estimates since they're provided by Passio along with the rest of the bus data. While they're definitely not accurate 100% of the time, there's no other source for this data at the moment so it's the best we have for now. Personally, that's why I tend to use the actual bus positions on the map along with the time estimate to make a better prediction for when the bus will arrive. Similarly as above, the buses stopping randomly is also out of my hands, as I don't control the bus drivers's movements and this is an issue that would need to be raised with GT Parking & Transportation. Although, I should point out that stopping buses is sometimes done intentionally to mitigate the "bus bunching" problem, which is an issue that affects nearly all transit systems. Regarding the red route, this is definitely available in the app (it may just be disabled for you). To enable it, tap the circle icon at the bottom right of the map screen and make sure there's a checkmark next to the red route in the list.

Anonymously Secure Brilliance

F* Superb for STEM minded peeps! Hit me up Alex if you want some free legal audit help to extend this kickstarter development further than your dreams could take you! Everyone needs some crowd source funding! Its the AmeriCorps way!!!

Worst UI

I really dislike the UI of this app. I cannot even see the complete name of the bus routes.

Response from developer

Hey Rsingh114, sorry to hear you’re not a fan of the UI. Sadly, I don’t control the names of the routes (they’re set by GT Parking & Transportation), so making shorter versions of them appear in the app will be hard for me to do on my end. It’s true that doesn’t stop me from overhauling the UI to come up with a way to show the full route names regardless of their length but I’ll be honest I’m not a pro when it comes to design so it may take me some time to build something that’s better than the current version. If you have any ideas though, please don’t hesitate to email me (which you can do using the in-app support button found on the settings page). -Alex

Simple and Practically Useful

It solely focuses on GT campus. The map is always going to be the same map, it usually does not allow you to span to other areas outside campus (and use it like a google map), which makes it purely goal-oriented.

It does not retrieve your location information! Given GT students are mostly familiar with the campus, the need for knowing her/his current location on campus by using the app is dispensable. Besides, I personally consider location information as part of my privacy, and the app serves the purpose without getting into this “turbid water” by not asking for users’ location. Of course, the sole focus on only GT campus this relatively small area also helps contribute to that.

Even without your real time location, the app still tells you the names of the bus stops, shows buses’ current locations, and predicts the bus arriving time!

Great App!

Love this app the only qualm I have is it now has no predictions for the buses but since you can see where they are that helps.

If you fix the predictions that’d be great! Way better than the new app.

Response from developer

Hey teamtamml00t, glad you’re liking the app! Thanks for pointing out the issue with the predictions, there definitely seems to be something not fully working properly. I’ll look into it and hopefully get a fix out soon!

Bad app

The worst app in the world
