August 15, 2016

Cards 2.1 focuses on improving recipe creation and editing, particularly ingredients. No need to be in edit mode to add or edit ingredients or steps, only to reorder them. Added a unified ingredient entry field to ingredient editing view Keyboard comes up on a unified ingredient field when editing an ingredient automatically Swipe left on Add Ingredient to add multiple ingredients at once. Type one ingredient entry per line, and then we split them and add them, just like pasting ingredients in. Remove display of (US) from units when not in the US, but keep the info around just in case Add australian tablespoon Add a None option to the unit picker Fixed an issue where quart would become cup. All units that got switched will remain cup unfortunately since we cant tell which was which

2.0.2

March 9, 2016

Cards 2.0.2 fixes a bug with initial syncing larger libraries up to iCloud. If your recipes are on your local device, but not on your others, and the last sync date isn't changing, this fixes that. It also adds features for recovering recipes from Cards 1.x if the migration didn't go properly the first time around. ***This version drops support for iOS 7 and OSX 10.9, and syncing to older (1.x) versions of Cards*** First and foremost, Cards 2.0 brings with it a completely rewritten syncing system, which is better prepared for the future. It still uses iCloud, but in a better way, that unfortunately required us to drop support for iOS 7 and OSX 10.9. Additionally, we have more control over the sync process, and can now show last sync date, and if everything needs to be reset (and even in the best of times sometimes this happens), we can delete all data from iCloud. Support for most of the new iOS 9 features Apple Watch support (watchOS 2), with display of recently viewed recipes from your phone, and Handoff support for Mac and iOS Spotlight support, find your recipes without even opening the app. Multi tasking support on supported iPads iPad Pro support, work on it's wonderful large surface And of course, tons of bugs fixed in layout of views, and lots of crashes and annoyances. And last but not least, an entirely new app for Apple TV, included with the iOS app. Display your recipes on your big (or little) screen

1.3.1

May 5, 2015

Fixed in 1.3.1: Crash in emailing a book with unformatted text recipes selected Sharing text generation issue What's in store for Cards 1.3? Well first up, there is the usual, bug fixes and improvements, including improved iPhone 6 Plus support. Tired of creating new recipes accidentally? Or not finding where to type the name in? Now we ask for the recipe name at creation time, letting you cancel if you mis-hit the button Next, we worked to improve our voice over accessibility throughout the app. It may still not be 100% awesome everywhere, and if you notice something not working, let us know and we will be sure to get it fixed for the next version. Now for the new shinyness! We added the ability to create custom convertible units. Live someplace where cooking unit's are a bit different? You can add those. Want to be able to convert between a 12 oz Can and a 16 oz Can? You can do that. Custom units are also synced over iCloud so all your devices get them Email improvements! You can choose how to format the recipe in the email, either not include it, unformatted text, or shiny HTML. You can also choose whether to send a PDF version and/or a Cards file. And last, and certainly not least, a web importer! Simply hit the + button, enter the URL instead of a recipe name, and presto, we have the recipe! Additionally, we have an extension for Safari that lets you import directly from Safari. We only support certain sites right now, but we can add to and update those easily, just poke us on twitter @DarkChocSoft with the recipe site you want supported! ps: Our display name has been updated to Cards Recipes

Price History of Cards, A Recipe App

Description of Cards, A Recipe App

Cards is a recipe app designed for your recipes, your family's long held traditions, all those cards sitting in box files or books. It was created for you to store, share, and modify those beloved recipes. It was designed from the ground up for ease of use and style. There are many recipe apps out there, but most are designed for other people's recipes, or over crowded with tons of features most of us will never use, and a lack of style on the features you do use. We started with the basics of creating, managing, and sharing recipes, and worked to get those right first. Cards is iCloud enabled, so that you always have your recipes with you. Someone love your casserole at a pot-luck? Simply send the recipe to from your iPhone to their iPad to them via AirDrop, or email it, message it, tweet it, or post it to your wall! Also compatible on iOS 8 with third party sharing services such as Tumblr and Pinterest*. Cards has a number of recipe management features that do their best to not get in the way of you using them, or looking great, including tags and books. Scaling a recipe is done non destructively, so changing back to the original is as simple as ticking a checkbox. *Tumblr and Pinterest belong to their respective owners, and no relationship with Dark Chocolate Software is intended or implied.

  • Great but crashes

Don't waste your money! Crashes frequently & doesn't work at all on MACOS Sierra. Even on previous versions it lost ingredients from the list, lost entire recipes, duplicated steps & recipes. If you value your recipes use something else instead!
  • Does not even save text fields. Ridiculous. :-(

This looked like a great app, and indeed it has great potential.... however I think I just threw away $7. The layout and interface *look* good, however nothing actually *works*. I created my first recipe and already I have had to re-type the title and author name 6 times.... because each time it reverts to blank again. I have typed it and saved it 6 times, and each time it simply vanishes.
Same thing with the names of tags. I created 2 new tags and only one of them saved with its non-default name.
These problems are beyond 'functionality' issues... the app simply does not even perform the most rudimentary functions such as saving text fields! Oy.

  • A good idea getting better

This is an app with potential, however it is full of glitches at present. Definitely needs some serious work. Suggest that developers put a full working trial so as to see if it is ok to use. I'm contacting apple for a refund, sick of wasting time, only to have the app drop out every time I try to add more than two tags and when trying to get it to sync with cloud.
Hopefully this developer is able to get the app working correctly, as he does get back to answer questions, but the instructions are too vague and at $8.69 for the app, it's just too exe.😱

N.B. Subject to the above review, I have had the distinct privilege of working with developer. Daniel has been very patient and helpful, showing that he does have the interest of his clients and the improvement of the app his priority.
It gives me a sense of confidence in my purchase and thus a reason to stay with the app, as I'm sure that with his persevere cue shown so far the next update will reflect very well on the app.😊
