$20 for *this*?

This app is pretty amateurish, not even supporting Bluetooth headphones on iPhone. It's 2025. When was the last time you saw an app that could only output over wired headphones? I didn't realize that was even a possibility. It's like the developer stopped trying back around 2018, and never updated it further.

The app's readouts also mix dB (SPL) and dBFS freely, even though there is no way to get SPL without first calibrating the system. What's up with that?

The whole thing just feels very "beta version written by a student in their dorm room." This is the single most expensive single-purchase app I have ever encountered. I probably wouldn't bother to keep it even if it were free.

Counter surveillance uses

Anybody whoโ€™s the victim of any kind of surveillance abuse or voyeuristic abuse in general, can use this app to pick up on a nearly imperceptible frequency around 14,000 kHz. The untrained ear you wouldnโ€™t be able to hear this frequency but it is the result of using wave generated surveillance systems such as the CTX 4000 or the national security agencies tempest program that uses subtle amounts of non-ionizing radiation directed at the building that the target is in to pick up on all the electronic and more importantly biometric information similar to what you get from the xavor1000 system.
Simply run the recording through a program like audacity or adobe audition and increase the decibel rate whatโ€™s you hone in on it with the apps spectrum analyzer.

No headphone monitoring support

I was keen to use this app with my Ultramic 384 USB mic and AirPods Pro for real-time repitched monitoring of bat calls, as described in the docs. However, the headphone monitoring crashes after less than a minute, and requires a reboot to resolve. The app author stated that Bluetooth headphones are not supported, blaming the issue on Apple having retired support for wired headphones. However, this was 7 years ago, which should give ample time to update the app. This means that real-time monitoring of USB mics is effectively not supported on present-day iOS devices.

App idea

Great app. It would be really cool if it were updated to give us visuals of infrasound like some other apps can in the App Store. The technology is available now so it shouldnโ€™t be hard for the developer to update the app for that. Thereโ€™s another app that can detect and give you visuals for all the way down to 1hz.

No Instructions

Trying to capture my neighbor blasting us with ultrasonic sound but there are no instructions with this app on how to utilize this.

No ultrasound

Great app, one problem, Apple audio doesnโ€™t go above 22kc. Have a solution let me know.

Response from developer

For real-time ultrasonic analysis, use an external microphone with ultrasonic capabilities through a USB camera adapter or through the iPhone/iPad dock connector.

This is the best analyzer on the App Store but please Update it

Works well, great UI, helped me eliminate a cause of a problem

How can the microphone on an iphone sample at such absurdly high rates? I don't know, but it seems to work, and this app has helped me eliminate ultrasound pollution as a cause of headaches that my wife's Macbook air m1 is causing us. The UI is FANTASTIC. The author clearly knows a thing or two about UI design!

OUTSTANDING!! Laboratory quality spectrum analysis!

I am an Electronics and Optical Technologist and have used professional laboratory instrumentation for over 30 years and
this app brings true realtime audio spectral analysis with an optional embedded realtime spectral display in a picture-in-picture window on the main display. The quality and accuracy comes from very high-speed signal recording and analysis, and includes an ultrasonic audio transposing mode to make this app function like a professional instrument ( nevermind the convenience and portability of being able to carry a spectrum analyser in your shirt pocket or on your ipad! )

Outstanding app! KUDOS to Pawel!

Works great!

Iโ€™m using an iPad Pro with a USB to lightning adapter to interface with a Dodotronic Ultramic 384BLE. I saved for a long time to purchase the Ultramic so I could listen to the bats that fly around my house. I love this setup!
