Description of Vocalize it!

WHAT IS "VOCALIZE IT"? It's an app created with "lo studio del canto di Simone Moscato" to help who wants to exercise their voice without the need to have or know how to play an instrument. WHO NEEDS IT? A so dynamic and easy to use tool is designed for both singing students and teachers, who can set up the exercises for their students to study at home; but also for those who, amateurs and professionals, need to warm up the voice before a performance or study in any place and at any time, thanks to the possibilities offered by a versatile device such as your smartphone. HOW IT WORKS? Its simple and intuitive interface lets you create vocal sequences from scratch or modify the standard ones provided. "Vocalize it!" is powered by an intuitive visual editor to help you inserting notes and rests, and an handy preview to listen to your composition at any time. The exercises thus created (or modified) may be further customized by setting the initial tone, speed, and configuring the buttons to raise or lower the pitch of the sequence during execution. DO I NEED TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT TO USE IT? Absolutely not, the application acts as a tool to help you improve singing skills, even if you only have a good ear but little technical knowledge of musical instruments. CAN I WRITE DOWN COMMENTS OR IDEAS? Each sequence can have annotations, teaching notes or whatever else is deemed necessary in order to optimize the study. You can also assign them a name for easier identification and set your preferred sequences as "favorite", to make them appear highlighted in the main list. Happy singing everyone!

  • Great app!

I’ve been using it for years, love it
Can the Vocalize files be exported as MIDI?
  • Great tool for singers

Very useful for singers and probably the best warm up app for singers on the App Store as other apps just give you a bunch of stock scales in this app you can create custom vocal warm ups with any note any scale pattern any speed and any range
  • Excellent

Just stumbled on this. There are quite a few of these out there out but nothing that fit my needs exactly. This is simple, but perfect. Customizable scales, playlist option, etc. The only other add I’d make is the option to have the metronome clink along with the exercise. Nice work.

The only improvement I’d like to see is to have it keep playing after the phone screen locks like other music apps. As it is now, I have to stop, unlock the phone, then the scales resume.

    Developer Response

Hi AutomaticEight, thanks for the very nice review. I like the metronome idea, I'm planning to add a switch, somewhere in the interface, to enable or disable it during the playback. About the background music when the phone is locked, it's a problem: the app wasn't build with this in mind and adapting it to support this feature is showing great issues with memory usage and stability. I'm adding it to to-do list, and I'll do my best to implement it, but I (still) can't promise anything, for now.
