Ads appear and cannot be closed
Science News would be rated higher, but lately, ads for games will seem to randomly appear that interrupt my reading of a science article. While I might accept that occasionally, the worst part is there often is no way to close the ad to continue reading. The only option is to force close the app and start over, hoping to find the same article again, and hoping that the offending ad does not reappear. They need to fix that defect, or I’m gone.
Update: the developers not only failed to fix this issue, it appears they have made it worse. Ads now show up several times a minute. I’m gone, deleting the app from my phone.Show lessIAmRummy

I’m a retired scientist and professor. I find it hard to find the time and gain access to the breadth of articles I need to read to stay reasonably current in my areas of scientific interest. Science News is a great asset to me in that I get a good synopsis of breakthroughs and publications in a wide range of biological and environmental science. Thereafter, I can selectively read further in primary journals. I rely on Science News quite often to stay current in retirement.Show lessGhhgyjjk

Used to absolutely love this app!! Was my daily source for informative and intelligent science based information. Lately unfortunately that has changed a lot. Not only is the app BLASTED with annoying and irrelevant ads and click baits that give it a very cheap and superficial feel. I understand developers need ads to cover costs, but at this level it makes it feel like the app is just using science info crawled from other sources to get some ad revenue.
Also like others have said in reviews there’s a lot of bots or fake accounts that immediately flag ANY science news about climate as Fluff! Doesn’t seem like those are actual opinion because they are super fast to flag every single post about climate. Seems like a joke and looses more credibility. Especially for a science app…
Hoping it goes back to be the way it was as a more serious and relevant source for scientific information.Show lesstony01123
