Lightning ds

This is the worst software available on the AppStore. Is is simply not stable. Auralic try to blaim the user for not using an adequate router. This is simply not good enough- in the real world many have Sky. Sky kit including the router costs less than a tenth of what Auralic kit cost and works almost faultlessly. Acoustically Auralic kit is very good but let down by software that is not fit for purpose. Unfortunately I am now invested in some very expensive hifi equipment that is badly let down by inadequate software/ communications.

OOPS!

Expect to see this message. Over and over and OVER AGAIN!
When it works the sound is really impressive but expect a high degree of anxiety that you might not be able to listen to anything at all, no matter how many times you restart everything.
Major improvement needed!!!!

Latest release is awful

Speaking as a software engineer, I’d be embarrassed about releasing something so pitifully unstable and buggy as the latest release. App stopped recognising my device after the update, did a factory reset and it got back to normal. Next day, same problem. Seriously? Sort it out. Your hardware is not cheap. If my entertainment device needs two hours of troubleshooting every time I turn it on, it’s worse than useless.

Unpredictable. Crashes often.

You would think the developer of this app would stay on top of ensuring that it will work reliably. Guaranteed to crash.

iPad App won’t connect to Aries Mini

I have used the Lightning DS iPad app since 2016. Worked just fine. However recently it stopped working as it did before. After many attempts to remedy by rebooting iPad, Airies Mini and router, I finally resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Now the app cannot find the device. It does connect to its built in hotspot, but then fails to find the device. It appears there is a bug in the app, because upon failure to find the device the app instructions are to push the exit button on the remote. The Aries Mini does not have a remote. This was reported to Auralic. I was told to contact the online community. Do they know how to fix this bug? Doubtful. The app needs an update. By the way, the iPhone Lightning DS app continues to work properly, so it’s obviously not a hardware issue. Really poor support compared to Bluesound.

Constant Crashing

So we are using this app for our Auralic Aries G1, when trying to browse radio stations the app will randomly crash, it happens after 30sec or 3min when searching.

It’s frustrating that this happens constantly, it makes giving a demo extremely difficult.

How can they possibly ship this horrible app?

Before iOS13 all was well. But now the app crashes consistently. It crashes connecting to a DLNA server, it crashes updating album cover from a music folder connected directly to the USB port, it crashes playing internet radio, in short, this is a pointless and utterly useless app. I emailed their tech support and their solution was, seek support on Auralic user forums. I offered their tech support that I’ll send them crash logs and reproducible test cases, but they were not interested. Everyone that I know of and owns Auralic devices been running into the same app issues as I have. However their tech support seems to think there are no issues or problems. So now I’ve a hw that I spent nearly 4K for it, sitting on a shelf, being useless since they’re refusing to acknowledge and fix their software issues.
