Has Been
Used to be one heck of an app. But with each new update it gets worse and worse and worse. Been using it daily for work for 3 years. Used to work great. But each update makes it more and more unreliable. These days it doesn’t even track right and will be off by miles, that is if it even works and your location doesn’t just freeze up. I’m having to search for a different app now because this one is unreliable. It is just a junk app that takes up space on my tablet now.

I’m really sorry that it doesn’t work for you well. Our all uses location provided by device. It doesn’t compute it from satellites. Check what’s changes since last time it worked good. Any settings, protective case, iOS upgrade, device upgrade. Contact us by mail and we’ll try to help.

An excellent App with a lot of useful features. Allows you to import or create tracks and gives altitude graphs plus a load of other information about your trips. On top of that you can save your own locations.
Supports Google maps. One feature would make it even better, the ability to go down to street view for a look around.
Backs up to Dropbox or iCloud and syncs to other devices.
All in all, I can highly recommend this App and have no hesitation in giving 5 stars.

not private, so why bother?
...it shares your personal un-anonymised data with facebook. instead use privacy respecting companies like, osmand, organic maps, organic earth or pocket earth.

No, it doesn't. We don't use any third-party analytics or other services that handle user data. Facebook is optional and could be used to verify your email. After that, there are zero connections to Facebook. We built everything in-house or use self-hosted open source solutions like PostHog and Sentry. You can easily check this yourself by using Charles Proxy to examine outgoing connections from Guru. We don't share personal data with anyone.
Best Offline Map Program on iOS, Hands Down

I think it’s the best purchase I have ever made
I use it mainly for long distance bike rides in Europe: download the maps , choose a long distance bike path and download the gpx tracks on to the map. Drop a star to show the location of my hotel or train station - and nothing else is needed
The gps marker shows immediately if you go off track, and makes it easy to find your way back
I’ve started to use it now for finding bike routes in unfamiliar territory closer to home as well
It’s great to be able to search (for train stations, toilets, for instance) and great to be able to change map types to suit travel needs

Excellence in digital mapping and navigation
After over 6 years use when it was called Galileo, this is still my app of choice for use on hiking and snowshoeing holidays where I want to use my own offline custom raster maps together with Guru’s OSM-based offline maps for viewing and navigation in the car or on foot. The contour and hill shading overlays are helpful too. Large choice of on-line mapping and satellite imaging which is cached for viewing when off-line. The app’s use of folders and subfolders and the management of viewing/hiding routes and waypoints is exemplary. It can easily catalogue hundreds of these. Unlike some other apps, the importation of a GPX file containing multiple tracks (e.g. from exporting a Garmin BaseCamp List keeps them a separate. Works smoothly and is very stable in use. On the few times I’ve needed them, the Support desk has been helpful and responsive. All of this and it now supports Car Play. Awesome!

Apple CarPlay
This program is by far the best program for navigation of offline mapping. Evgen is always improving the functions for faster access. Just added is Apple CarPlay which puts it above the competition. A few minor bugs are being worked on at the time of this review but believe me, they will probably be fixed before you download. I highly recommend this program for both vehicle and hiking.

Personal Mapping
This is an amazing app, one of the great things is to store routes and places in folders, so a holiday trip for example can have all the hotels, walking routes all saved in a folder which can be toggled on or off or individually. Look back at previous holidays etc. So like a real map but you can mark unmarked and remark. You can go from point A to B and then save as a route marked on a map so you can navigate by simply looking at the blue dot and the route. The folder feature means I use it as an address book with built in maps rather than the apps address. You can even add a phone number and any other details to the 2 text fields name and details. I use it on all holidays and most weeks in between. Just get it!

Everything you need to plan, record and enjoy your travel. Works smoothly and faultlessly. Particularly useful is it’s availability offline.
Regular updates, I love the recent one, and very responsive developer. It’s the app I’d most hate to be without.
