  • Beautiful and imaginative

To all the people who wrote negative reviews, maybe you should read the description of an app before you purchase it. The description here is very clear about what it is and what it is not. So if it's not what you thought it would be, it's your own fault and no one else.
  • I Love This ❤Takes 7 Days to Play (Misunderstood Game)

I love this it is really a beautiful little piece. But it is totally misunderstood by players. It takes 7 days to play for you need to listen to all the '7 Songs in the Bottle' to get the secret and the songs are sung on daily basis.
Also you need to be next to printer so you can print out the hand made sketches so you understand what this is all about. It is a new concept in game play and I love it. You can play different tunes on the different chimes throughout this game.
Thank you guys for this, please make more.

  • ??????

Downloaded it on the basis of a review which made it sound very interesting. I do not understand it. I keep hitting dead ends and what I am finding is boring. I don’t get the point of this app.
  • What a letdown

Biggest waste of money, basically paying to read a pointless short story. The graphics and artwork were beautiful but there was zero point to this app. Completed it in less than 10 minutes and the only interactive part of the game is swiping between rooms.
  • Melancholy and interesting but way too brief

This is a very creative and for a short while absorbing experience (not really a game) reminiscent of (and maybe inspired by) old computer games like MYST and RIVEN but way more abbreviated. The scenery and sound effects are excellent and the songs are folksy and pretty if you like that sort of thing but overall there is very limited interaction with the scenes (you just swipe up/down and left/right to navigate between rooms with not much to explore in the rooms) and little replay value and the ending to me is unsatisfying and weak. I cheated and used the iPad clock to move ahead but even so the whole thing is over in 1 to 2 hrs and moving time just gives you more song bottles and radio broadcasts and one new rowboat, otherwise the scenes don't change. The ending is one new shore and very brief. I don't mind the 4$ but as far as apps go I was really expecting a lot more from this one.

  • A really, really, really misunderstood game.

Yes, I picked this game up a long time ago, yes I heard it takes time, yes I tried it and promptly deleted it after trying to figure out what the heck I was playing. I understand you. And because I understand you, I must insist that you don’t drop this game. I picked it up again with the intent of not playing a game, but watching experiences unfold before me and exploring the mind of this “sailor"…that changed everything. From the beautiful visual imagery down to the intriguing memories displayed in vivid text…I really fell in love with this up. There’s so much to discover and ample clues to discover it with. All the memories can be explored in any order and in any direction (you explore places)…but they are still seamlessly connected. The game itself, takes about a week to unfold…and this is why: TIME IS RELEVANT. The hours you open it, the day you open it, it is all relevant to the progression. You have to collect memories and songs, and only then will you wake up from this sailor’s dreams. It’s haunting yet beautiful, optimistic yet sad, colorful yet jaded…it can be quite an emotional experience if you let it. This game won’t be for everyone, but if you’re like me… you may have dropped it at first, but perhaps instead of making the game approach us, we should approach it on its own terms.

  • Exciting...nah!

Not worth the money to get it. I kept waiting for something more but it didn't happen. I agree with the other comments here.
  • Disappointing

The amount of reading unbalances the visual nature to the "game".

No narrative drive, very little interactivity - doesn't really work as a story or a game.

Sad, feels like a missed opportunity.
  • Surprisingly short, but beautifully crafted

I love these little explorations into a fictional story, told through charming music and beautiful interactive art and writing.

You are paying to be told and immersed into a story, that only reveals itself to you in small pieces as you explore.

I found myself absorbed in the story and emotionally connected to the characters - it is a very sad and moving tale and the original songs written for the game, sung by one of the characters, makes you feel even more connected.

It is surprisingly short, but if you allow yourself to relax and to spend time soaking up the atmosphere rather than just trying to 'win', there's a lot to love.

If you see games as a commodity and have a baseline expectation of "free", don't buy this, but if you value the time and effort people put into to creating a fictional world through art and music, and enjoy paying to support them, you will enjoy this.

  • Beautifully Told Story And Amazing Music!

When I first went through this I kept thinking "Jeez, this music is great! Where's the soundtrack?" And I was very pleased to find one on iTunes. My point is, the game was beautifully done from the graphics to just the design of it all. Just the smoothness of the design and it's almost mysterious element makes me go back for more. The story, although it's told in bits and pieces, is intriguing. You really have to explore everything to know every side of the story, even the music! It does require someone that enjoys going back and taking their time with things to enjoy this specific style of game. It's well worth it if you do. I do have to admit that I was a bit let down that there isn't more to it, but going back through the game and revisiting all of the parts make you appreciate it more. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the tale The Sailor's Dream spun for me along with stunning graphics and an amazing soundtrack.
