The Obituary

Good morning,

Any chance that Ann Wroe's wonderful Obituaries could make it into Espresso?
Thanks,
Robert McLure

Great but slow

Thatโ€™s my entire review.
Its a great app that lags like a NASA IBM trying to run call of duty

A superb app

This is a wonderful app on every level: the interface, the smooth transitions, and the content!

Terrible Experience Cancelling - TRYER BEWARE!

I tried the trial and didn't find it valuable. So I went to Manage My Subscription and tried to cancel. They make it VERY DIFFICULT! They go back and forth using what appears to be a chatbot. They ask you why you're cancelling, over and over. They offer you upgrades. They offer you discounts. Back and forth, back and forth - even tho with each reply I just played "broken record" with them and simply replied, "No. Just cancel." Over and over. Finally, they cancelled. What should have taken one minute took about 15 (including an aborted first attempt because their site wouldn't register my responses that time and I had to start over).

I am surprised. I thought The Economist would hold itself to higher standards.

Not an app that I thought I needed on my phone but one Iโ€™m glad I have

I find myself turning to this over Instagram or other social apps. Having short articles is good in that I know that I wonโ€™t get lost in the app.

Scammers โ€” Iโ€™m paying for this app and canโ€™t access the content

Iโ€™ve been a subscriber to The Economist Espresso for years now. When the app works, itโ€™s tremendous content and worth paying for.

However, itโ€™s been nearly impossible to access the content on a daily basis for a while now. I tried talking to their customer support team and they were useless. So, in the meantime, The Economist is taking my money without providing a service.

Terrible, Iโ€™d give 0 stars if I could. They also tried to contact me after another 1 star review I left, and were no help there either.

Glitch

After using this app for over a year I can now only see the videos section and nothing else. It is useless now. Not sure if this was due to a recent update

Response from developer

Hi, sorry to hear you're having problems with the App. Please could you delete this version and install 3.31 from the App store. If this doesn't work, please contact complaints@economist.com for further support. - James

Great but UX has gone backwards

Great news snippets but now I can only see the news for the current day. The older version used to be able to read back one weekโ€™s worth of history which I found a great way to catch up.
Now I see notifications from a few days ago but I canโ€™t find those articles. Such a shame the user experience has gone backwards.

Read (not listen to) the key news moving the world

I like the content of the appโ€ฆbut I donโ€™t much care for the audio version. I find that the speakers for the audio version are not of the same high caliber as those for The Economist; and listening to the repetitive bore of the daily quiz, combined to having to listen to who the weekly winners are is a major distraction. As a result, I now prefer reading the Espresso rather than listening to it.

Great app but personalised content limited

Is there any way I can personalise my feed by choosing topics without allowing my data to be sold onto third parties? It seems to use the personalisation feature I must enable data to be on sold. Hope Iโ€™m missing something??? I am paying ~30$ per month so would expect full access to features.
