Subscription model too expensive
I’ve been using the pro version for 10+ years and have been very happy with it, my go to app for local and DLNA streaming.
I understand the need for the devs to go for a subscription model, but AUD15 p.a. is way too expensive. I’d be happy to pay two or three dollars each year but the new price just smacks of greediness.
VLC player does pretty much everything I need so I’ll switch to using that, and it’s free.
Sad to have to do this but I can’t justify paying the new costs.

Shut out of functionality
Been using this app for several years and paid for the pro version etc. A new update now forces me onto a subscription model and locks me out from key features.
Very poor - if somebody pays for something, you can’t just change your mind and demand it back.

Grandfather Those Who Purchased
You should have grandfathered those in who purchased under the original agreement. This bait and switch is not ok.
Do NOT install this update - Use VLC instead

Basically, if I buy the subscription, does it work across all my devices?
Can I use it on my phone, Pad and Apple TV for the price of the subscription or is it a separate subscription for each device?
One last question, will you be doing a two year three year or permanent option?
Once I’ve had an answer to my questions, I will be able to review the product properly and adjust the score I have given it.
To add to this review, will you be updating the AppleTV version soon, so that I can expand 4:3 to 16:9 so I can watch old shows in full screen.
Be great to be able to do that whilst watching a show.

I personally helped them troubleshoot issues on older hardware a couple times.

Facile de copier coller le même message d’excuse mais plus difficile de respecter ces engagements et ici cette compagnie ne tiens clairement pas parole. J’ai payé une application pro à vie et eux ils ferme l’app pour des paiements mensuels. RIDICULE!!

Просто перешел на VIC плеер, функционал тот же зато без подписки. Ищите дураков в другом месте. Купил про версию, а теперь я должен еще каждый месяц вам отстегивать? Перебьетесь

Disingenuous pricing and subscription model
I paid for a pro version a few years back but then my server went down so I stopped using it. Got a new one recently and so I download and go to restore purchases and get a message that says “Thanks for your money. But we took the product back. Now we want to charge you to use what you already paid for over and over again. It doesn’t really offer anything that other similar apps don’t that warrant anything close to that kind of pricing but we’re gonna do it anyway because we are…wait for it… GREEDY.
No way! No how! Not ever again will you get another penny from me. When you move to a subscription model you grandfather your existing users in, not use the opportunity to screw all the people who supported you. Horrible predatory greedy business philosophy.

Classic bait and switch
Another app that you pay for a “lifetime” membership, then they decide to switch to a subscription model and remove the functionality you’re already paid for.

What a disappointment!
Paid for the pro lifetime version a long time ago and now they want to charge me a subscription. This feels like a scam, very disappointed in this.
No way to cancel
If there is a way in the app to cancel the subscription during the 7-day free trial period, then I can’t find it. It should be an easy option in the settings. I guess the only way to cancel is to contest the charge with Apple and/or my credit card company.

I paid for 8 player pro. Now they want a subscription. I’ve switched to free open source app VLC.
Don’t download this scam
Great little app that could connect to DLNA or SMB servers for media sharing. I paid for the “lifetime” pro version. Now 8soft broke their agreement in order to get me to pay a subscription without any benefit. Look at all the angry customers who are done with you. Hope the extra thousands in revenue from people who don’t care will go far. Your reviews will never recover.

Was a happy user. Happily paid for full version years ago , to use the app. Now I have an update, devs decided to shake down their old customers. Here’s the message in the now broken app. Thanks guys!. I feel so valued I want my money back!. Let me know when you send it. I have the receipt right here.

Unethical business practice
I bought and paid for the full app a long time ago and I just went to use it today to find the feature I needed had been paywalled. Immediately after posting this review I am deleting the app.
