Very disappointed
I made a “life time” purchase of 8player Pro some years ago and used it A LOT. The app was great and did everything I wanted. Without warning they changed it to a subscription model. I WILL NOT sign up for this and will start using an alternative app.
Amazing app to play content from your local network
I am using this app for a very long time. This was the only app I found which worked so nicely to play videos or music or photo slide shows from my NAS device on my local network. Their support is also great. I contacted them for some enhancement and they were quick to respond and applied the enhancement. I would highly recommend this app..

Pro user now ripped off!
Used for years, paid for pro, now they’ve revoked that and want to bleed me for a subscription. They should leave the last known version for those who owned it. Criminal
Saw an opportunity
It’s a shame. I have been using this for years and went pro as soon as I realised how good it was. I’m not moving to another subscription model. You could’ve released a new version with the updates with a similar one of upgrade fee, letting people who are content with what they had carry on without any future updates,but it’s too easy now to make people keep paying over and over again.

Changed to a subscription model without my approval and won’t let me keep the ‘old’ version I paid for! Uninstalled.
Legally, the old version should have been left (unsupported) until advances rendered it unusable.
That’s what others do.
The thieves refuse to provide a link to reload the version I bought.
Apple - why did you allow this? Is it breach of contract? Is it legal in UK?
2 months later - Apple, why do you not respond? Scared? Don’t want to kill a cash-cow even if it’s in the wrong?

How dare you !!
So I purchased this app out right a long time ago, how can you just change the way the app is supported, those of us who have paid for it should still be able to have full access as we have always had not have the developers just decide to slap us with a subscription, you should give us a refund as you have gone back on your original contract we entered into with you. NOT HAPPY !! 🤬

I rarely review anything Except when deception has occurred. I bought pro long ago and expected to be able to use it in perpetuity but the developer has decided otherwise and now wants more money (in yearly subscriptions) for something VLC can do for free. Very disappointed. The original stated sale is a lie now and the fact Apple allows this is also a shame.

Paid for the full version, then suddenly the developer got greedy and is charging a subscription! The file sorting doesn’t even work properly. Screw this guy!!

I can understand a move to a subscription model. But applying a kill switch to a licensed installation is not on. Normally a move to subscription means the user won’t get updates. This action by the developers suggests that the app is now mature and they won’t do much to maintain it or add features to tempt an existing user to make the move. Deleted. Update: The developer has responded, again misrepresenting the action as stopping support. A kill switch is an unethical act quite different from stopping free upgrades.

Garbage company! I already paid for the full version and now you turn it into a subscription app?! This should be illegal. You should have just stopped supporting the app and allowed me to continue to use the features I PAID for! Outright theft!

Paid for this app. Now some of the original features are restricted without subscription!!!!!

I used this app for years. I upgraded to the pro version almost immediately to gain the full functionality. This company recently got greedy and decided to change to a subscription model. This has made my pro purchase almost non-functional. There is no way I would pay a company like this more of my money. STOP WITH THE BOT RESPONSES developer…. Same insufficient response to all your previous loyal customers.

I‘ve bought the pro version few years ago, it was supposed to be a one time purchase and I was happy with it, suddenly the app is locked like the light version asking for subscription, I have never asked for an update or long time support , it was doing exactly what I wanted, reading local files on my iPad..

scam - bought app and then they decided to move to annual subscription and disabled my purchased app
Had bought the 8player pro app but apparently we are now to be milked for more money by disabling the app I purchased unless I pay an annual subscription. Extortion is what I believe this is called. Pay us money or bad things happen to the stuff you bought.

Странный подход на грани мошенничества (а может и не на грани) - продать приложение, после чего ограничить его использование, требуя ещё больше денег.
Как надо было сделать: оставить старым пользователям функционал, который был оплачен на условиях, по которым была осуществлена продажа, а новым же пользователям предлагать подписочную модель.
Ведь кто теперь, прочитав отзывы, в здравом уме будет использовать даже текущую подписочную модель, зная, что после оплаты можно получить ничего? 🙂

Речь шла не о максимизации прибыли, а о том, чтобы сохранить приложение и продолжать поддерживать его в дальнейшем. Чтобы и дальше поддерживать приложение, исправлять ошибки, обеспечивать совместимость с новыми версиями iOS и tvOS и добавлять новые функции, у нас было только два реалистичных варианта: полностью прекратить поддержку приложения или перейти на модель подписки. Мы понимаем, что это может не соответствовать вашим ожиданиям, и благодарим вас за то, что нашли время поделиться своим мнением.
Locked out after buying Pro
Paid for the pro version. Now locked out and told by app to buy a subscription. Frustrating. Tried restoring purchases but nothing happened.
