No way to cancel
If there is a way in the app to cancel the subscription during the 7-day free trial period, then I can’t find it. It should be an easy option in the settings. I guess the only way to cancel is to contest the charge with Apple and/or my credit card company.

I paid for 8 player pro. Now they want a subscription. I’ve switched to free open source app VLC.

Great little app that could connect to DLNA or SMB servers for media sharing. I paid for the “lifetime” pro version. Now 8soft broke their agreement in order to get me to pay a subscription without any benefit. Look at all the angry customers who are done with you. Hope the extra thousands in revenue from people who don’t care will go far. Your reviews will never recover.

Was a happy user. Happily paid for full version years ago , to use the app. Now I have an update, devs decided to shake down their old customers. I bought and paid for the full app a long time ago and I just went to use it today to find the feature I needed had been paywalled. Immediately after posting this review I am deleting the app.

VLC better in 2026, dropped paid support subscription only
I bought the pro version over a decade ago to deal with more video formats now not only is buggy but they killed letting me use it! To download video onto my iPad now I need to pay every year as well! But now VLC has more codecs, more subtitle support, and local streaming support. And Free

Great Player but.
Changed to one star because I bought this app and used it for years.
But now they are charging again and changing to subscription.
I can understand this for new purchases but for those of us who bought the app as a one time purchase should not be charged this and make to pay a subscription.

Unsägliche Umstellung auf Abo-Modell
Habe eine gekaufte Version seit Jahren zufrieden genutzt. Nun wir plötzlich auf ein Abo-Modell umgestellt und man darf / kann ein bezahltes Produkt nicht mehr nutzen. Eine unverschämte Unsitte, die leider immer mehr um sich greift. Daher kann es keine positives Feedback mehr für eine an sich gute App geben. Es wäre auch denkbar gewesen, einen langjährigen Nutzer einfach von weiteren Updates auszuschließen. Damit wäre zumindest die bisherige Funktion geblieben, für die man ja schließlich auch mal bezahlt hat. Wer dann die Neuerungen benötigt, kann ja dann eine eigene Entscheidung treffen, ob er dafür jährlich zahlen möchte.

So unfair!
Bought this a long time ago with a ‘lifetime license’ but now reverted to a subscription-based model. The old version is no longer available. I don’t need anything new or fancy. I just want the old version that I already paid for.

I paid for this, now you tell me I must pay to use my PURCHASE? It might be acceptable if payment was required for a feature upgrade. Better to have stopped supporting the software than this.

Player ist gut - aber kein Airplay ?
Den Player hatte ich schonmal gekauft, und musste jetzt für das neue Abo-Modell nochmal neu bezahlen ? Neue Funktionen oder spürbare Verbesserungen habe ich leider nicht festgestellt. Soundausgabe über Airplay sucht man leider auch vergeblich.
Ansonsten funktioniert der Player gut und stabil.

Ich schließe mich meinen Nutzerkollegen an. Die App hat bisher gut funktioniert und konnte alles was ich brauche. Warum ich jetzt in ein Abo wechseln muss, obwohl ich eine Lifetime Lizenz hatte erschließt sich mir nicht.
Von daher heute deinstalliert und auf eine gute alte Alternative umgestiegen.

Subscription
Being using this for a long time, in fact bought on family sharing and that’s ended so lost my access. Now faced with $15 a month. Would have paid a one off but not $15 a month it’s like a pay tv subscription. Please consider the feedback

Legally, the old version should have been left (unsupported) until advances rendered it unusable.
That’s what others do.
The thieves refuse to provide a link to reload the version I bought.
Apple - why did you allow this? It is breach of contract! It is it illegal in UK!
2 months later - Apple, why do you not respond? Scared? Don’t want to kill a cash-cow even if it’s in the wrong?

Features lost after Developer change to subscription
I bought this in 2019. I paid for the pro version because I wanted the one time purchase. Now it won’t even allow me to access all of the media on my media server. I won’t be subscribing. Extremely disappointed.
