  • Love the FREEP App

This app has to be the leader in written-word publishing. It’s intuitive and smart. If there is a way to improve it, the editors, designers and devs at the FREEP will find it. The only possible suggestion I could make is adding an emoji line at the end of each article so we can express the agreements, objections, and laughs after reading articles by some of the most talented journalists in the country.
  • Freep app

I want and pay $9.99/month to get the enewspaper. I know it isn’t the most up to the hour news, but has other news in it I enjoy. About 7-10 days ago something changed in the way I get the e newspaper now having to go thru the app to get it. It has made my use of the e newspaper less user friendly. Pulling up older editions also more cluncky. I can no longer download the edition and read it in an area with no Wi-Fi. If I try to do this, I could only read the first three pages .This I was previously able to do. I also get the USA Today and recently get a pop up cover the e edition asking me to go to the USA app as a different way to get the e edition. I always X that out as I would say my experience with the Detroit Free press app to get the e addition has not been satisfying for me.

    Developer Response

Hello, Thank you for using our app and providing your feedback. We are currently working on investigating the eNewspaper issue you have identified and hope to have a quick resolution. We care about our readers, and we work very hard to build the best news experience for you. Please email us at USATODAYmobile@USATODAY.com if you are still experiencing any issues. Thank you.
  • Sports is not breaking news!

This app is easy to use and I’m grateful to have a local paper that I can subscribe to! Unfortunately the Detroit free press uses the heading “Breaking News” a little too leniently. It actually seems that they use it only to share sports news. Breaking news is not sports. Breaking news is active shooters in our area, or updates on US war relations with other countries or literally anything other than what’s happening between two teams. I’m afraid to turn off notifications for breaking news because what if something actually important happens locally or in the world? Because of this, I get basically 2-10 breaking news updates a day about the lions. Now, I care about the lions! I want to see them win! But I don’t need multiple breaking news updates about them. I think the free press is straying away from journalistic integrity by doing this and I would be forever grateful to the editor or person in control of app notifications if they could reign this in. Please, I beg you, use the breaking news headline for actual breaking news.
