Missing features
The recipes are great however for those on specific diets, there is no filter for things like low carb diets. Also - the recipes don’t include nutritional information which should always be included.

Why the forced videos?
Love the recipes but disappointed by the latest update which features auto playing videos. I’m not here for a tik tok experience and now it’s forced on me instead of the daily featured recipe. Very disappointing.
Difficult interface
I have a hard time finding the recipes I’m looking for within the app and even opening the app itself. It would be so much easier if it were accessible on the NYT main app!
Love the recipes, but location?
I love the recipes, but something that bugs me is that if you’re not in the Northern Hemisphere, some of the recipes are irrelevant for you. Being shown winter recipes during your summer is not helpful and the reverse for your winter. I think there should be a feature where you can designate what season you’re in and the app shows you recipes based off that information, otherwise you have to scroll back through your saved recipes or try to search using specific terms, which don’t work out most of the time.

Started using during Covid lockdown and haven’t stopped
Perhaps the only really great thing about the days when we couldn’t leave the safety of our homes during the nationwide Covid lockdown was the chance to really experiment with cooking at home. Not being an innately talented cook, I sought help. A brief search on the web, I spotted the NYT Cooking app. I tried it and never stopped using it. It has helped me create some really delicious meals and helps me in countless ways to improve my cooking and expand upon the types of foods we feel comfortable making at home. Because of NYT Cooking, I use a wider variety of seasonings, spices, herbs, and techniques than I may have been brave enough to try before. (For which my husband is, I’m sure, eternally grateful.). The app is EASY to use, the libraries make finding my favorites easy to find, and the comments from the Community reviews are nearly always helpful. Videos are the icing on the “cake”. This little app has become one of my all time favorite go-to “cookbooks”. Highly recommend.

Response from developer

Great app, new icon is very bad
Love the times, but geez, new icon is bad. Please consider providing some options as preferences, or better yet just establish something more befitting of the NYT design language.
Perfect … except I’m in the wrong season!
Really great ap. Ideas, tips and recipes to make just about anything. Only problem - I live in Melbourne, Australia, and therefore all the seasonal suggestions (whether via ap or newsletters) are six months out of kilter. Could someone create a hack to match suggestions with users local season? Thanks

Put off by imperial measurements
There’s a great variety of delicious looking recipes, but having to manually convert from the US units (seriously, a ”cup”?) puts a barrier to entry. It shouldn’t be on those creating the recipes to amend, this is something the app itself should be able to do. Put a toggle, and yes fine have a warning saying ”measurements and units were automatically converted, please double check if unsure”. Then it becomes useful for a non-US audience.

Not saving my recipes!
It won’t allow me to save any recipes. Yes very buggy.
