Leave a Review Kanazawa Shogi 2
Great Features + Brutal A.I for Newbies!
I learned Shogi yesterday and the level 1 out of 300 levels is absolutely brutal. I've yet to win! Besides the challenge of this game's A.I, you can replay and email the full text record of all of the moves that were made in chess-like notation to yourself for future analysis. The app also has no annoying music and includes an optional professional Japanese voiceover where each move and type is read aloud. I like the concept of unlocking new Shogi sets as awards for winning medals against the computer, but as the kanji is more difficult for me to identify, I wish the 'animal' Shogi set in the advertised picture was available from the start.Show lessGreat Shogi app
Shogi is one of my two favourite games (the other being Go), and it is great to be able to play against a pretty strong program on iPad or iPhone. The display is clear with a choice of pieces. The is one with Roman characters for those not familiar with the kanji, although those are easier to learn than you would think. For those coming from Western chess, I think you will enjoy the excitement of Shogi, it is the best of chess variants.
There are things I would like to see added. A coach that displays best moves like Chess Pro would be great, and a good selection of professional games to replay, like Chess Pro or SmartGo Kifu would be perfect. Also a nice selection of tsume Shogi would be ideal.Show lessComplicated
It would be nice if rather than having some text to teach you how to play the game, the app had some sort of tutorial levels to help you learn how to play whilst playing.
