Going downhill or just me?

I’ve used SwiftKey for years. Phone after phone. Started on droids, but currently on iPhone.
The past year or so I’ve noticed the auto correct will just completely stop working sometimes. as in no assistance, whatsoever order predictions. Fortunately it resets when you reopen the keyboard so nbd just odd.
Lately I’ve ordered more things off my phone so I've experienced one issue that's extremely irritating. I'd be checking out and let’s say there was an issue that caused a prompt of any kind to come up. SwiftKey covers rattling 45% of my screen I’d say, bottom half obviously. Where many buttons to said prompts are located. To my knowledge there is and never has been any way to minimize this keyboard when you are done. sometimes pressing enter will do it, but I’m pretty sure that’s just some websites pushing through to the next page.
Even right now, writing this review. Is the submit button anywhere below my nickname/ID I wouldn't be able to submit.
Anyway I've had to exit apps and restart orders a few times so that's why I wrote this novel. 5 stars again when I can minimize :]

Dictation broken, Baffling UX design, hideous implementation Microsoft Copilot.

SwiftKey has been a disappointment in its current state. Major areas of functionality are broken, making it frustrating to use as a daily keyboard. The dictation feature is the worst offender—it switches you out of the app you’re using and forces you into the SwiftKey app. This creates an endless loop, making dictation completely unusable.

The integration of Copilot is equally poor. Just like with dictation, attempting to use Copilot takes you out of your current app and back into SwiftKey, rendering it impractical for any real-world use case.

Lastly, the overall design and integration of features like menus are baffling. Why are buttons so large that you need to scroll through them, especially when there’s ample space on the keyboard itself? This is particularly frustrating when using SwiftKey on an iPad, where the extra canvas is completely wasted.

SwiftKey was once an innovative app, but these usability issues make it feel half-baked and poorly thought out. It’s in dire need of fixes and design improvements to be a viable keyboard again.

Where is Auto Space?

This app on my Samsung phone is amazing. But on the ipad, some really cool features are missing, like the Auto Space after punctuations and I'm sure Microsoft can make the screen move up to allow the keyboard to still be viewed and the text be viewed at the same time. Why is this not fixed yet?as I'm currently writing this review, I cannot see what I'm typing. Which I feel like is so silly.

Used to be amazing

I love using this keyboard way more than the phone default one but in recent times it glitches constantly. They are always updating it where they fix one issue but create a new one in the process. Currently the keyboard glitches about every 10 seconds and loses whatever it was doing. There's no way to report faults so you just have to wait for them to discover the new fault and fix it and wait to see what the next fault is

Hello Ingrid! Sorry for the trouble. To help with the SwiftKey issue, please provide your iPhone model and iOS OS version. Please try these steps: Enable Backup & Sync from settings and reinstall SwiftKey, restart your phone, log into your account. Let us know if this fixes the problem. Thanks for using SwiftKey!

iPad version keeps crashing/closing

I have the latest version installed, but my iPad keeps closing the keyboard and showing the standard keyboard mid swipe. Can’t even get through a small sentence, very frustrating. This happens on all apps. I am a long time user and this seems to be recent, but I am so sick of it. If the built in Apple version could swipe in full width view, I would switch to it permanently. I literally get 5seconds and it closes and the standard apple keyboard appears. Even if I am not typing, just having the keyboard show, 5seconds later it closes. It is unusable. I removed all other keyboards and only had one listed - Swiftkey. The same problem, I do not need to do anything and it closes/crashes and a default keyboard is shown without a method to switch it back. To add to this, installing the Google’s GBoard keyboard, and it just works without an issue, even with other keyboards installed - this is a Swiftkey issue based on this alone.

Installed the new release and tried again this morning (19th Aug 2024), same issue it crashes and closes without actually doing anything (iPad Pro 11” 3rd Gen, latest IOS release). Re-enabling GBoard until it is fixed.

Thanks Microsoft! :) :) :) :) 🥳🥳🥳

Swiftkey now know my exact location and has access to my entire photo library. I feel really safe knowing that a company as trustworthy as Microsoft knows my exact location. I also feel great that you can scan my entire photo library whenever you feel like it. They really need to know all this information to give me a keyboard!

What a great privacy respecting company you are!!!!!!!!!!!!! °x°

Not what it used to be

I've been using this keyboard for years and genuinely loved it. I never wanted to go back to the stock apple one. For probably about a year now I have been having issues with the keyboard and can’t get it to function properly anymore. It started when my moving background preset kept disappearing and defaulting to the base apple keyboard. I though that maybe because the background graphic was moving it was causing issues with the phone and maybe there was too much going on. I adjusted to a standard color. When I would start typing something it would work for around 30 seconds and then crash. I was stuck with the default keyboard again. Now it’s so bad that I can’t even use it. It will crash sometimes immediately before I even type. I would love to have this resolved. I don’t want to give up my favorite and most comfortable way to type.

EDIT: I got some help from their support and everything is resolved! I love this keyboard and updated my review.

What happened to the compact view?

I love SwiftKey and have used it for years. It became unstable on my iPhone and I had to stop using it for some time but it appears to be back now 🙌 One issue is that the keyboard takes up almost half the screen, I'm sure there used to be a compact mode, can we have that back pleases?!

SwiftKey: The Best Keyboard App for Mobile Devices

I absolutely love the "SwiftKey" app by Microsoft. It has revolutionized the way I type on my mobile device. The predictive text feature is incredibly accurate and helps me type faster and more accurately than any other keyboard app I've used. One of the things I really appreciate about "SwiftKey" is the level of customizability it offers. I can easily change the theme of the keyboard to match my personal style, and the option to resize and reposition the keys is a nice touch. The only thing I would change about the app is the selection of emojis. While the app offers a wide range of emojis, there are a few that I can't search for yet. I hope that future updates will expand the emoji selection even further. Overall, I highly recommend "SwiftKey" to anyone looking for a top-notch keyboard app for their mobile device. It has greatly improved my typing experience and I wouldn't use any other app.

Fantastic but a few issues

So this keyboard is truly great and is the only one I use. However, it has a few issues now with it that need to be addressed. The first is the lack of ability to once more choose the transparency of my keys and pop-up color cannot be changed even though it "gives you these options" when making a theme (it just ignores it entirely). I can’t make any new themes that have a completely transparent or mostly transparent, it’s only the default that MS has decided which is rather frustrating and needs to be reverted.
The second is the inability to edit or delete existing themes. I used to be able to do both and I do not understand why those abilities were removed. The keyboard works great but having these functions restored would help out.
Third is the lack of emoji updates. It'd be nice to have access to the most current ones but alas, I don't.
Come on, MS, it can't be that difficult to address these things. I've lowered my rating again due to the lack of fixing these basic things. I don't want new features, I want existing ones to work and be maintained.
