Under the law, OK2SAY can’t release the name of the tipster. To be effective, we need to have some mechanism to communicate with the tipster to get all the essential details to understand the issue and forward the tip to the right people who can investigate the matter. We are glad to know the program worked to resolve the issue.
Useless poser app

If OK2SAY has all the necessary information, our team will forward the tip to the most appropriate responding agency, usually the schools. When the schools receive a confidential tip, they investigate to find a solution. The tipster may be unaware of the school's actions to resolve the issue because disciplinary records are protected by one of the nation's most stringent privacy laws, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The tipster may believe "nothing is happening" when, in fact, the school is dealing with the issue discreetly.
This doesn’t make sense
Response from developer
When OK2SAY receives a tip, an automatic response notice is generated to indicate a tip received. However, this does not mean OK2SAY has all the information needed from the tipster (e.g., who, what, when, where). It is important to provide a working email or telephone number so our technicians can continue communicating with the tipster, asking additional questions to ensure the submitted tip can be forwarded to the most appropriate agency to help.

When a tip is received, our specially trained OK2SAY technicians address the immediate need and forward the information to the appropriate responding agency or organization. Tips go to schools, local law enforcement agencies, community mental health agencies, or the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Every OK2SAY tip is taken seriously and is tracked by our team. Each organization involved in responding to or resolving a situation is asked to complete an Outcome Report. The Outcome Report asks the responding organization to detail the nature of the tip, how the tip was handled, and whether the situation was resolved entirely or requires ongoing attention. OK2SAY is a resource that individuals must use responsibly. It is not intended to be used as a way to blackmail others. Practical jokes and prank tips will not be tolerated. Filing a false report to mislead the police could be considered an obstruction of justice. Suppose the prosecuting attorney for a local unit of government has reason to believe that a report or other information provided to OK2SAY was falsely provided. In that case, that prosecuting attorney may petition the court to disclose the report or information, including any identifying information. Suppose the court determines that the report or information, including any identifying information, is relevant to the criminal proceedings and is essential to the person's fair trial. In that case, the court may order the disclosure of that report or information, including any identifying information, as determined appropriate by the court.
Great but
If I could give them negative stars I would

Thank you for your feedback. It might be helpful to understand how OK2SAY tips are triaged. Tips involving immediate life safety or crimes in progress (e.g., threats of violence) are sent directly to local law enforcement. Tips that do not involve an immediate threat are sent to school administrators for an appropriate response the very next school day. You mentioned that you provided the full name of the victim and the school. This key information you provided to OK2SAY would ensure that your tip was shared with the school the next day. Once the tip information is forwarded to the appropriate responding agency, the school and/or law enforcement agency will investigate the matter. OK2SAY requires an Outcome Report detailing the action taken and the result on each tip. As the tipster, you may not be aware of all the actions taken by the school/law enforcement.
The Presentations Are A Lie
In the presentations at schools, they make it sound so easy and if you let them know, they will take care of everything and it will be ok, but that is not true. I was told to block him, tell my parents, and call 911. First of all, 911 is for emergencies, like if someone is dying or being hurt. A conversation that happened 2 days ago is not an emergency. Second, I contacted ok2say because I didnt want to tell my parents. And blocking him will do nothing. When I told them I didn’t want to do these things they had a little bit of a rude tone. They then asked if I had his name, phone number, anything, and I said I knew nothing because it was on snapchat, and they responded with, you shouldn’t talk to strangers on the internet.
This was a waste of time, I got no where with this, and this man is still out there preying on young woman.

The goal of OK2SAY is to stop harmful behavior before it occurs. You were very wise to trust your gut and ask for help. Sexual predators do exist and are a very real threat. They target both boys and girls of all ages. The OK2SAY presentations are designed to empower you to step up and speak out if someone approaches you online to gather personal information, exchange pictures, and/or meet in person. We encourage students to take screenshots and save communications and report it to the platform or service you are using. You should also block the person and file a report with the CyberTipline (https://report.cybertip.org/) the nation’s centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children. Finally, we do encourage you to contact local law enforcement. If you don’t want to call 911, you may consider using a non-emergency police phone number. It might be uncomfortable to talk to your parents when an online stranger makes you feel unsafe, but it is important to remember that your parents and the police are there to help. By cooperating with them, you may be able to prevent an online predator from harming others.
