Mixed feelings.

Heya! Updating this year old review to tell y'all my honest opinion using this app.
First, I love to use this to sketch and stuff and importing/making brushes or brush packs. Gumroad and kofe or however you spell it has a bunch of procreate brushes I really reccomend trying some out. Anyways back to the review, Sometimes the app crashes if theres a lot of layers or it lags. I dont like the lag and crashing sometimes I lose all my progress and its really annoying or my art is corrupted and when I try to restore it with the restore artworks button it doesnt work. Second, I know this one isnt really about reviewing its more to apple. ADD. PRESSURE. SENSITIVITY. They can make it for the ipad and they cant make it for the phone?? Im a artist myself and i've been begging for the past year to apple to add this so procreate pocket or other apps like ibis paint can add it too. Lastly, I feel like this is a alternative to clip studio paint. Its cheaper and half the money you would regularly pay for the actual ipad version. You can set how many layers and custom canvas sizes. Sometimes the buttons are hard to remember myself considering me having horrible memory lol. Anywayssssss that was my review. Byyeeeeeeee :))

Hey there - cheers for the kind review! You can Liquify in Procreate Pocket, too. Be sure to check out how from our Procreate Pocket Handbook: https://help.procreate.com/pocket/handbook/adjustments/adjustments-liquify ⭐

One of the best for iPhone

I used ibis paint X for a while until biting the bullet on this and I’d say it was worth it. While this app definitely feels like the neglected younger sibling to Procreate on the iPad, as features take a very long time to be ported over. The overall feel is very nice, you can tweak and duplicate brushes to your liking as this app still lacks a lock brush size button so I have to make an new brush locked to a certain percentage, but besides that it feels amazing to use. The double taping in the color pallets to select the most saturated, two finger undo, and taper brushes allow me to use some form of brush variety. I’m happy this is not priced the same as Procreate, as with smaller screens and many settings still being absent it makes sense they are priced differently. Overall, I’d highly recommend it to artists! It feels wonderful for even finger painting or with a stylus! But it would be nice if at some point procreate and pocket could be combined so they could sync drawings and get updates at the same pace.

Best app ever

I love this app it’s easy to use and has always been my platform . I create not only fan art but also animations and this makes all of it possible the only thing that I can’t do with the animation feature very easily is match it to music or audio like talking as you cannot add audio to your animations (unless I missed something) so I have to export it and upload it to CapCut and edit it which is a bit of a hastle however for anything else it’s AMAZING beautiful brushes and amazing features very easy navigation though the app and very high quality canvases.
Over all I think this is an incredible app and platform but I do wish you could add audio to animations inside the app

Incredibly underrated

Amazing app, while I still do prefer iPad experience, this one is full fledged one with few tiny changes to accommodate smaller screen. Most importantly it allows me to draw wherever I am and get very creative, even considering my limited knowledge of this app. Thank you for keeping app single payment at low price, easily one of my favorite apps on my phone. I have made today drawing of my daughter when she was on her JiuJitsu training using one of pictures as reference - it did have made my day 😊

help with transferring!!

hi there!

first of all, I love the app so much!

I have a bit of a problem. I somehow got pocket on my iPad (I’m not sure if that should be possible) but I was thinking of getting a new iPad as my current one is almost 5 years old. Will procreate pocket still transfer all of my artwork to my new iPad from my old one? I really don’t want to loose all of my artworks, so if it can be transferred, please let me know!

Thanks again for an amazing art app!

Hey there - thank you for the review of Procreate Pocket. If you get a new device and you use Apple's Quick Start (https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT210216) to move all the data across, this should include Procreate Pocket and your artworks. To be safe, always make a backup of your art, too (procre.at/backup) and you can manually export your canvases to a cloud service in the .procreate format for extra peace of mind. 🙏

Please prevent hidden layers merging

This is a fantastic app, I highly recommend it. Truly amazing for the price. The only thing is that if your not careful when merging you might loose your work. I worked all day on my piece and was ready to merge the layers. I haven’t done this before so wasn’t aware to pay attention that all layers are visible. There should be a warning. All my work is gone. Unfortunately I didn’t know you could press the return button on this. Please fix this issue. Otherwise highly recommend

Hi carmi567 - We are sorry to hear that you've lost some of your layers due to merging. We can note down your feedback regarding this to potentially give a warning when merging visible layers with hidden layers.

I feel robbed.

I accidentally bought this. To explain further I got an iPad for birthday (which my mum bought ahead), since I found out I was getting it i decided to buy some apps in preparation because i was so excited. On my phone i searched up pro create and all that came up was the pocket version, as I had never used either i though that it was the same thing as i couldn’t find the other one. It was my birthday yesterday and the first thing i went to download was pro create. To my surprise it had a price tag right beside the logo, I was confused, I had already payed for it but then i scrolled and saw that i had the re-download option next to the POCKET version. Now i have an unwanted app AND my mum wont let me buy the og (original) one. Thanks….. for making a non useful second app, It’s just confusing and misleading!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there - We are sorry to hear you had this bad experience with Procreate Pocket, and we appreciate your feedback. Procreate Pocket was created to provide an alternative for iPhone, because of the differences between the iPad and iPhone screen / hardware. If you would like to try a refund request, you can contact App Store about this as all sales of Procreate or Procreate Pocket are handled by App Store directly. In any case we will be here for you if you have future inquiries about the Procreate features. We are always glad to assist! 🙏

Wrong app

I wasn’t aware that there was a phone version and iPad version so I downloaded this one. And then I found out that this one was the phone version and it’s horrible with my iPad. Hope I could get a refund…

Please give us reference zooming and rotation!

I really, really want to like this app, and I think it could be super useful except for one major problem - the reference photo feature does not allow us to resize, rotate, or pinch zoom it to see any detail (which the iPad version does). So you’re stuck with a 1” x 1” postage stamp-sized reference, which is very unhelpful for doing any kind of detailed work. I like to draw nearly photorealistic portraits, etc. - which I could still do using this app, except that I can’t zoom in to see any detail at all on the reference, thus rendering it fairly useless. And I don’t want to have to constantly switch back and forth between Pocket and Photos to do it either, obviously. It’s just impossible to draw an accurate portrait (or much of anything else realistic) without seeing the finer nuances of the image. This is a major bummer, since otherwise I think it would be an awesome way to work while on the go. If this feature were added, it would be five stars for me! As it is, it’s only good for some pretty basic sketching.

Edited 01/05/2023: Hey Jerferd, thanks for the edit. We can definitely see why this could be useful, and we appreciate the ongoing input and support. ✨ Hey Jerferd - thank you very much for the review. We always appreciate feedback on how we can improve the software, and this is no exception. We'll do our best to improve upon the Reference feature in the future. 😇

Great app but with limitations

I love using procreate pocket to make all my digital illustrations but you can’t access any of the newer brush sets, even on an iPad. I wanted to get Kyle Webster’s brushes but I can’t find anymore available for free, other than very few I found years ago. Creating animations on procreate is a bit inconvenient too if you want to make sketches and line art for your animations since you have to group layers and open and close the layers to watch the animation. But it’s good for sort of just playing around with smaller animations.
