9.0.2

December 27, 2023

Welcome to ProShot 9.0! This update has been a long time in the making, and we're excited to finally be able to share it with you. Our goal for 9.0: make ProShot easier and more fun to use, while maximizing its customizability. This new design takes ProShot's usability to new heights, and allows you to make your camera and the moments you capture as unique as you. Here's what's new: *New UI* We've updated almost every inch of our UI to improve visibility and interaction. The camera settings bar has doubled in height, and now supports landscape orientation. By popular demand, ISO and shutter speed are now controlled by sliders, and can be switched back to traditional buttons at any time. We've also introduced re-mappable gestures to the Customize panel, and a new on-screen Fn button that works as a quick toggle for a number of camera features. The rest of the UI has also undergone various changes to improve look and feel, including larger font, more responsive buttons and a symmetrical layout for enhanced ergonomics. And it all just looks so good! *Macro Mode* On supported devices, ProShot can now access macro mode. This mode automatically switches to the lens with the closest focusing distance, and is great for up-close shots of tiny objects. *Efficiency* Even with all of these new features, we still wanted to make sure ProShot remained a fast and fluid experience. And we ended up making it even faster. This update brings optimizations to the UI and camera engine that improve start time, reduce CPU use by 10-15%, and improve battery life. *Other Details* There is still so much more packed into this update. We've improved application performance in low light, enhanced the exposure algorithm to make more intelligent decisions, and added +/- buttons on the ends of sliders for easier fine-tuning. The camera roll has also received a refresh, and haptics have been improved throughout the app. Many of these changes were inspired by your feedback. If you're enjoying ProShot, please take a moment to write a review, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for the messages and support, and see you all again soon!

8.17

Welcome iPhone 15 and iOS 17! This update celebrates the launch of the iPhone 15 and iOS 17 with tons of new features and improvements. Here's what's new: LOG Video Recording [iPhone 15 Pro] We're thrilled to be bringing Apple's new LOG color profile to ProShot. This amazing feature allows you to capture detail and dynamic range in your videos like never before. Don't let the faded colors fool you -- each frame is now packed with tons of information. The LOG color profile works by dedicating more numeric precision to the higher brightness values of your scene, which in turn better preserves the video's color detail and dynamic range when you go to edit the footage. And best of all, you can get great results with very little effort in your favorite editor right on your phone! Improved Capture Speed [iOS 17] This update also brings some great improvements to image capture speed and responsiveness using a host of new technologies introduced in iOS 17. This includes zero shutter lag, which eliminates the delay between pressing the camera button and taking a photo. Not only can this reduce camera shake, it ensures you get the shot you intended to take. Also in this update is a new way of processing images in parallel, improving shot to shot time and camera responsiveness. Other Things As if that wasn't enough, here's some of the other notable changes in this update: • Timelapse Previews now work with the intervalometer. This can save hours of time wondering if you got the shot right, and it's quickly becoming one of our favorite features! • Optimizations for Apple's latest hardware (iPhone 15 / Pro / Max) • Added option to record video without audio • Bug fixes for video, timelapse and camera roll • Over a dozen (subtle, yet welcome) UI improvements for iPhone and iPad

Reviews of ProShot

  • Love the updates and functionality of the app

I’ve had this app for years as they were one of the first that I found that gave you a lot more control over your photo shooting any infancy of phones, becoming your primary camera that’s still allowing creativity like that of a DSLR. I hadn’t used the app in a while as most of my pictures taking was focused around point, and shoot moments, which the enhances no doubt , but we, it really shines is, and its abilities to take your photography to the next level on your device and control the most important functions that allow you to be creative and take shots that live up to what caught your eye In the first place .

    Thanks

    Developer Response

    Thank you! 😊
  • Best I’ve Used

I teach filmmaking classes and use iPhones as our cameras. I’ve gone through a lot of apps searching for the best one for my students and I’m so happy to have found ProShot. It has all the power but a clean, intuitive interface. And no subscription! You buy it — you own it. The developer has also been incredibly helpful. I’ve been nagging him with questions and he always response promptly and fully. Really love this app.

    Developer Response

Thank you for your kind review! Always glad to help. Hope your students enjoyed using ProShot 😊
  • No manual settings for Portrait Mode?

Proshot is a handy photography app for some things, but it seems that in Portrait Mode it’s simply in auto mode, no different than the native iOS Camera app. There appears to be no way to adjust white balance (which is *critical*!), shutter speed, ISO, etc. All those adjustments are greyed out when portrait is selected. This makes it useless for shooting under unique lighting situations (e.g., gelled lights, colored LED lights, high-key or low-key, etc.) Is this a limitation of Apple’s camera API or can this feature be added?

    Developer Response

Hello, you can edit the depth of field effect by opening the photo in the Photos app > tap Edit > and tap Revert. This will undo ProShot’s depth of field effect and allow you to re-edit it :)
