Reviews of Fastmail

  • Great Service, OK App.

I’ve been using FastMail/Pobox for years and have already prepaid out my account for quite a few more. I’m extremely happy with the product and the support has always been great the few times I’ve needed them. The only thing that’s meh about FastMail is the mobile app. It’s really just a wrapper for the website itself so it doesn’t feel incredibly native and at times can be a little buggy. It works but leaves a lot to be desired. I’m hopeful one day it’ll get a upgrade then I’d truly have no complaints about FastMail!
  • Possibly the worst App I’ve ever seen for a paid service

Guys fix your app. You can’t have people paying for a service where the app foregrounds to white every single time and needs a restart.

The Fastmail service and web app are great. Well worth the money. This App however is almost unusable, it has become so riddled with bugs. The App doesn’t load content half the time until its killed and restarted, tapping notifications opens the wrong messages regularly, it has no offline cache even just for the Inbox, the share extension fails more often than it succeeds, animations and gestures are janky. The list goes on and on. The App used to be usable, but it is just full of bugs that make it a chore to use. This is especially painful for a paid service.
  • Amazing client for Fastmail users, integration with other IMAP servers lackluster

This app is a bit different from other mobile mail clients. While others have design native to mobile, this one feels more like a mobile-scaled version of their web app. Personally, I like this and prefer this app's design to the other mobile mail clients I've tried.

My one gripe is that there is no integration to view other mail accounts through IMAP in the same way as the built-in iCloud Mail app. Fastmail can poll other IMAP servers for new mail, but it can only do that for new mail (and not changes to existing messages) , which means you can't use it as a synchronizing client for other inboxes.
