  • Very Good. Only minor gripes.

I immensely enjoy learning from Guitar Tricks. I’ve tried pretty much every app / online learning platform around and this is definitely one of the better ones. Pretty much any app will do to begin with but if you want to progress past the beginner level this one is by far one of the good ones.
    The small gripes are
    1. It would be nice to transition to the next lesson without having to exit full screen all the time.
    2. The app still crashes occasionally.
    3. The major menus could use the submenus underneath for reference.
Like I said. Very small gripes.

  • Best of the bunch but not perfect by any means

I’ve tried Yousician (too game-ified and annoying scrolling), Justin (lovely guy but not enough content) and Uberchord (buggy). GT is a more serious and properly musical approach. Can’t believe, though, that there are no finger placements (especially if you’re doing the classical option or compositions). The range of songs is also definitely skewed towards electric.

  • Great lessons but needs the site functions

Overall the lesson plan is great to learn from a beginners stand point. It would be nice to have the tools allowed on the website to be addded to the app. There’s a lesson on using using a metronome, the instructor discusses buying one when an integration into the app would be better even more so since they have the function on the website.

The lessons are well in line with most reviews that the lessons are great for anyone starting out vs other apps.

My recommendation is that the tool box that’s available should be on the website especially since I pay more a year than competing apps.

  • Great app! Amazing lessons!

I have reached through all the internet for a good app that can teach me guitar. I was a complete beginner!! But when I start things I like to do them well (especially if I’ll pay for it). I did a deep research on the apps that teach guitar, like Yousician and Simple Guitar, and believe me, this is the best one that you can invest on!

I’ve been using this app for a couple of months, and even though I haven’t been as persistent, I can definitely see so much improvement! Imagine if you go serious about it with this app!
They go slow pace, they really take in count that you are a beginner. They have different levels (if you are more advanced). They have a ton of classes of every type of guitar that you may have. Also they have full tutorials on songs and other cool tricks.

If you want to get serious with the guitar and learn every detail (and not just know how to play it) this is the app for you. And if you also are looking to just know how to play songs, this is the app for you.

I truly recommended! Amazing professors! And the price is accesible. Right now I’m paying 10$ / month

  • Easy to learn an very valuable lessons

I wanted to Thankyou for a amazing guitar program . Your trainers make it very easy to learn . I was on (fender play) putting hrs in of play every day an realised i felt like I was going no where . I jump on guitar tricks an put the same amount of hrs in an I’m switching between chords like I’m a pro . Of course with a little practise an repetitiveness.

I’m just about to pass course 1 an I’m feeling very happy with where I’m at .

When learning guitar I found strategy is a big percentage of it . You need to know learn how to switch to chords quick because that changes your perception on what songs you can play an what songs you can creat. Fender play didn’t do this within its courses . It’s a very key foundation for me (personally) to get a handle on guitar so you can start rocking the world with your own amazing music

Love learning from Lisa . She makes it fun an so easy .

  • Great Tool to learn guitar

I love the structure and everything about the learning process with Guitar Tricks but the only reason I don’t give this a five star rating is because I’ve had this app over a year and a half and they still haven’t fixed the bugs. Not all the time but often I’ll click on a lesson and it will bring up a different lesson than I clicked on or a lesson not even in the category I’m in. For example in the beginners tab in the practice tip section I’ll click on the left handed playing lesson and it will pop up a lesson from the Funk genre. If the developers see this please fix this. You will gain a five star rating if you do because right now the computer version is more reliable than the mobile app.

  • Solid, not great

The app has an issue on the phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max) where if you touch the screen in fullscreen horizontal mode (widescreen), the app will return to vertical mode. I don't think this is the intended design, so maybe it’s a bug. Perhaps it is meant to be a swipe so you can quickly exit full screen, but it’s too sensitive if so. This is frustrating when trying to rewind because you must return to widescreen mode.

Another issue is when doing a chord switch when trying to play along the chord switch is sometimes not notated until the new line of notation comes up, so it’s easy to mess up because you don't see it coming. You either need to memorize the chords/notes or bring the notation up, which is too small to read on a phone with the video also playing. You could also print off the notation, but this is a hassle for shorter videos.

I have used primarily blues and classical lessons. The blues lessons are very well done, and the teacher makes me believe he knows what he is doing. The classical teacher is fine, but his play is either sloppy, the guitar is out of tune, or the recording quality isn't good. I can't figure out which it is. However, he teaches the notes and techniques well overall.

  • Great content - more price options needed

These are fantastic lessons. There is so much here for both beginners and experienced players. I just wish there were more pricing options. I know it is a great value for what it has but it is more expensive than other apps out there. That being said, these are real video guitar lessons. The jam tracks and sheet music are great additions. The only thing it lacks are built in practice and review.

  • Great app, great functionality and look. Lots of room to improve.

Please add the toolbox like the main site. Even a metronome.
  • Fantastic Guitar

This course has taken me from absolute beginner level to a reasonable sound Guitar player. Learning still everyday. I would highly recommend the course to anyone thinking of Learning Guitar. Excellent course content and Anders explains everything in an easy to understand manner.
