  • DRM-Free High Resolution Music

Some streaming apps require a subscription to rent access to their music catalog. Other high res music sites give you one-time access to high res downloads. Qobuz has a subscription tier for those who want access to the entire catalog, but it also sells DRM-free music that you can access anywhere, any time — on your phone, iPad, computer, you name it. And you can re-download your music in case your files are misplaced.

I have found Qobuz to be hands down the best place to legally purchase high resolution music. The price point is higher than non-high-res sites like the iTunes Music Store, but you’re paying for the added benefit of lossless/high res.

Only drawback as of now is that there is no support (yet) for Dolby Atmos or other Spatial Audio technology, likely because those are proprietary formats and are therefore not DRM-free. (And Spatial Audio is not lossless or high res either. Yet.)

  • Error

I wish that the message saying that “an error has occurred, please try again later” wouldn’t show up every time that I try to delete my account and I could just delete my accounts without any errors happening. I also wish that the email saying to confirm your account deletion would immediately show up in your inbox without having to wait at all when you click the button to forever delete your account. Also it would be easier and less time consuming to delete your account if you could just delete it without having to get a confirmation email to do so. I do love this app a lot though.

  • Great mobile app

Quite an improvement in more than 10 years I’ve been with Qobuz. The desktop app still needs some work tho but big boys use Audirvana anyway, so who cares. The catalog is very good, sorry whiners, there’s no garbage music here. And for those who like to complain about the lack of algorithm recommendations, same thing, you’re at the wrong place, Qobuz users know what to listen, no need mommy to tell them what to choose… By far one of the very best sound quality, no loudness crap or Atmos gimmick, just good people listening to some real music 😉 Next step, DSD? Go go go 👌🏽

  • Downloading music is a technical mess lately…

I have been buying Hi-Res music from Qobuz from the beginning, even before they were acquired by Xandrie. Their services were always somewhat buggy, but the Windows downloader worked just fine. Lately things have changed for the worst: I always purchase my songs in the maximum available resolution but I have noticed that when I download those files on the iOS app sometimes the resolution I purchased is not available for download.
Another issue is that there are so many glitches with their recently revamped downloader for Windows that downloading a couple albums took me a whole day. Basically downloads start, then errors for some tracks appear and basically you are stuck.
Another very annoying thing is that now all downloads are in FLAC format, and if you choose WAV the FLAC file is installed in a temporary folder (labelled "original") and then gets converted to WAV. This process is extremely slow on a laptop. Honestly, I like Qobuz, I have over 2000 tracks that I purchased from them, but I will not be buying anymore from them until they solve these issues.
I have zero interest in streaming, I buy songs to download them, and they seem to be focusing mostly on streaming lately…

  • Fantastic Sound Strangled by a Poor App

I have tried three times to use Qobuz as my single source of music. Limited library aside, I dove in and downloaded all my favorites. That’s where it started. Slow downloads and when the iPhone auto locks your download stops. No background refresh. Listening is fantastic. And the music quality is well identified. (Unlike other services.) BUT, if the app begins to skip tracks you have to empty the cache. Who else has a cache? And it does seem it’s not Carplay ready. I hardwire to the car to get the highest sound res. If I re-enter the car and start Carplay the app is blank and I have to reconnect the iPhone. It takes a lot of hand holding to use this app. Maybe only listen to Qobuz at home. Again great sound and could listen to it all day but not on the iOS app.

  • Awesome sound!

It’s a huge breath of fresh air after listening to Apple Music’s low quality codec and Spotify’s crushed tracks for so long. I nearly forgot that music is supposed to sound good. I got so frustrated that Apple makes it impossible to actually listen to the lossless format without buying a bunch of external workarounds, but luckily that frustration led me here. Sound is awesome and app is inviting enough to work with. I hope they get more classical/traditional music from around the world and have it indexed properly by people who are familiar with artists/rep/titles within the respective traditions—or better yet curated playlists the same way they have it for indie, jazz, etc. There seems to be some opportunity for growth there, but I’m relatively new to the app so some of the issue just may be my fluidity within it, though there isn’t almost any of the quintessential recordings of the 20th century masters of shakuhachi honkyoku, a very developed flute tradition in Japan with centuries of refinement, for example.

  • Best App

This app is probably the best I’ve ever had. I spend hours on it every day just adding more and more songs. Nothing could be better. No ads. Unlimited skips! What’s not to like? Just one small little thing. They don’t always have the main song of what your looking for. For instance, I was looking for Zankyou Sanka and they didn’t have the main version; only more different ones that were made by viewers. This doesn’t bother me too much and not enough for me to quit using this app but if they could fix these small things I bet they would have to add a whole sixth star just for this app.

All in all this app is amazing and I really think you should think about getting it.

  • Great sound, buggy app

Has the best sound quality out of all the services I’ve tried. However, the app is buggy. The favorites section only shows 300 items for each favorites section (releases, tracks, and artists). For some reason this 300 limit makes it impossible to search all of your favorites. If what you search for isn’t in the initial 300, it will not appear. In order to display all favorites, you have to scroll to the bottom of the list so it refreshes and displays more items. You have to repeat this until all your favorites are displayed. Once done you can then search all of your favorites. This issue needs to be looked into. I don’t what to have to do this each time I want to search my favorites. Other then that, the app is fine for me.

  • Charging my card but can’t use the app

When I first download in Qobuz, I loved it it worked great, and sounded even better but at some point I don’t know why my app logged me out and I tried to log back in, but it kept saying that I was no longer a subscribed member I checked my Apple account and my subscription was good. I tried to reach out to Qobuz, but there is no way for me to contact them. It only says they are unavailable at the moment so I tried to re-download the app. Read log back in restore purchases, and none of that has brought back my subscription. They just rebuild my account today so they are getting money and I am not getting the it is unfortunate that such a good streaming platform does not have a tech line or somebody I can contact about this I did not want to leave a bad review since I liked the app but I have no choice
