The app does what its name implies, e.g. it will notify you when your friends get online or offline. There are some limits about what we can mention in the app description on the App Store. The initial description did mention the server for purchase in Second Life but it was rejected by Apple because it was something sold outside the App Store. However, our web page for the app clearly mentions that there is an additional cost to get all the functionalities. However, as stated above, the app as sold will perform as it is advertised, e.g. notifies you when a friend comes online or goes offline.

You don't need a land to use the app. The app simply notifies you when your friends come online or go offline. The land is required if you decide to get the additional features, which require the purchase of our SL Notifier Server available from our store or the marketplace. However, the app as purchased on the App Store will perform its advertised functionality, which is to notify you, hence the name "SL Notifier".
No luck
1...does not allow chat though there is a chat button. Does not work.
2...difficult to log onto...tried MANY times
3...not intuitive! Just what is the url it asks for in the settings?
4...Why was the Meta app removed from the store? So those with the new iOS could not us SL
5...finally got it open and it crashes...continually
6...get it right before u release an app and waste people's existence-time
Friends’ List Checker - counts for something!
As long as you don’t care about any of the other things advertised, then it works like a charm. It would be nice to see who’s in range, but it doesn’t do that for me. It’s also be nice to IM friends like the old MetaVerse app used to, but the app crashes if I try. Not sure if it works if you own land cause I don’t, so read other reviews for that.
Four stars - missing star just from the app’s description apparently causing confusion over slurl’s and added functionalities.

No, it doesn't. SL Notifier is NOT a Second Life viewer.
