Canon camera Not Connecting
Needs a UI update for X models
excellent
At least one person complains it is difficult to connect the app and camera. What might be overlooked is that the app itself does not make the connection to the camera. First, the wifi connection must be made between camera and ipad or phone. It is a network setup matter. Once that connection is made, the app will recognize and connect itself to the camera. You will be very frustrated if you expect the app to set up the wifi LAN between ipad or phone and the camera. It won’t because it can’t.
Cannot connect to my Nikon D5300
Forget it
Response from developer
Could you please specify what exactly you have found "impenetrable"? We'll be happy to improve the manual. And was there anything else that you've found terrible? P. S. We know that our current instructions are missing the new Canon cameras with Built-in Wi-Fi, and Nikon cameras with built-in Wi-Fi and with WU-1 modules. We're working on it and will update the instructions soon (tip: select Smartphone mode for Canon cameras).
Licence to expensive
Paying 66.99 for the capability of shooting in raw format
Is way to much considering this app
Is way to slow,
Even in jpeg
I may have paid 19.99 for the licenses but this app is not worth paying 70.00 bucks.
As of yet!!
Response from developer
I know it's been a long since you've tried the app, but it's only possible to reply to reviews since recently. It would be great if you could describe what exactly you've found slow. Perhaps, something wasn't right, or perhaps we can improve something. P. S. The app costs USD 40 for Helicon Focus users and USD 48 for everyone else. I assume the price you've mentioned was Canadian dollars, not US dollars.
Dosent work on canon 800d
Response from developer
I realize this is an old review, but Apple have only recently given us the ability to reply to reviews. To the best of our knowledge, the problem with 800D is fixed in the latest version of the app.
Try before you buy
The software does what it is supposed to do in the current build (December 2017), but bugs seem to creep in from time to time and I would strongly suggest that you turn off auto update in the App Store if you are going to depend upon this.
The really good news is that you have full functionality in the trial version with the only restriction being you can just take small JPEGs so you can thoroughly test the software with your set up to ensure it meets your requirements. This is essential because there seem to be all sorts of quirks arising out of the differences between different models of camera and the weakness that Apple only permits a Wi-Fi connection to the camera. If you have any choice at all just believe me and use software on a laptop with a USB lead! However if you are constrained to use an iOS device then test this thoroughly and if it works for you, groovy.
A few tips to make help you make the most of this:
- Set focus points at maximum aperture. Live view (on my camera anyway) is a stopped down view and it makes it nearly impossible to focus accurately!
- Tell your iOS device to forget the local Wi-Fi network, otherwise when the camera Wi-Fi wobbles your device will reconnect to your home/office network and all will be lost. (But be sure to know the password to reconnect!)
- Set your camera’s time out to half an hour or more otherwise again it may well drop the Wi-Fi connection.
