  • Flash minimalist mired in mediocrity.

Dotello encourages out-of-the-box thinking without placing needless restrictions on gameplay. What could be a great puzzle app is smothered with the toxic practices that are endemic in mobile gaming. The game withholds 3 out of 8 hearts until you begin harassing Facebook friends to play -- and once you run out of health you'll have to wait 3O min for each heart to refresh (unless you'd like to enjoy the privilege of throwing money at the devs, courtesy of the game's extensive IAP options). Intrusive ads will pop up between each level but load the actual image after a 1-second delay, meaning you'll always pre-emptively on the screen and unavoidably end up opening the App Store instead. Would be 1/5, but taking away another star for bland visual design would be vindictive.

  • Needs a lot of work

    Nice colors... That's about it.

The logic needs a lot of work. I'm sure developers think it's "obvious" when spacing doesn't make it a match. But it's not visually obvious. So you go into early levels thinking you have a line. And you don't.

There's a "joker" that you can have by putting 4 dots in a row. Now your expectation of a joker is what? That you can use it as you see fit. Nahhh. This game auto plays it for you, which makes it basically useless.

Some levels are way too easy, and some are unclear. The rules change every level so unlike other games once they've introduced a new twist that new twist doesn't appear in the next level. So.... Yeah.

The facebook connect line across the screen gets annoying fast. I'm sorry, I know I LOOK blind but I'm not. If I haven't tapped it by level 3 it's not because I didn't see it.
Ads pop up every 20 seconds and it's easy to tap by mistake. Very intrusive to a not so great experience to start with.

    Conclusion: not ready.
