Love it for practicing a second language
I use it to read articles Iโm actually interested in to practice Spanish. You can also take quizzes to check your comprehension, switch back and forth between the English and Spanish if you wanted, and you can adjust the difficulty. Itโs been super helpful and kind of...weirdly fun.

It helped me learn so much! Itโs amazing! I would really advise you to use this if your are struggling in the understanding and comprehension part of language arts. Thereโs fun articles and you can also take tests and notes on your computer while reading the text. It works great! Highly recommend it. ๐๐

I have been using Newsela for school for 2 years and it is a great way for teachers to let their students read news articles without bias in the articles and itโs just the straight information about that topic. Also, the article can quiz you at the end of your reading to give you a little challenge to make sure you were paying attention. You can choose the level of the article and the quiz to make it more or less challenging.

Replying takes forever
Great website but ..not a great app. Newsela does offer easy access to the quizzes and writing assignments , but when it comes to the replying and submitting your reply, it takes forever . Once you finish your reply you can press the X which exists you out or a downward arrow which just closes what you were replying , however you automatically delete what you were writing as if exit your reply . Itโd be nice if there was a submit option after you finish your reply instead of finding a way how to do it online . Removing it also takes forever .

Excellent source
I use this website regularly to differentiate learning with my students at different levels and with my own kids at home. It is a great resource for introducing kids to current events without worrying about them landing on inappropriate materials. It is a very well organized website as well.
