Description of ChirpOMatic

ChirpOMatic is Europe’s top-selling bird identification app. It helps you identify European birds quickly and easily, from the squeak of the tiny Goldcrest to the Crane's loud trumpeting. HOW DOES IT WORK? 1. Record the bird song or call using your iPhone or iPad. 2. ChirpOMatic analyzes the audio to identify the bird species based on its unique vocalizations. 3. The app gives the name of the bird, or birds. 4. In the case of poorer recordings, the app provides a short list of the most probable birds, ranked according to the likelihood of a correct identification. 5. Access additional information about the identified bird species, including brief descriptions of their song, and details of special features to listen out for. 6. Your recordings are stored on your phone along with the date and location − a great way to listen and remember the moment. Recordings can be shared using AirDrop, WhatsApp, messages or email. Reviews of ChirpOMatic

  • Excellent for Western & Central Europe

User from Germany here. This app does a beautiful job identifying bird song even with fairly quiet song or when there are multiple birds. Definitely excellent for birdwatching in Europe.
  • Doesn't work

Don't know if it isn't narrowing by region or what the problem is, but I got a perfect capture of my bird song and it failed to identify the bird. After asking around and searching online, we ID'd the bird. The bird wasn't even in the list of possibilities listed in the app. For the record, it was a "Black-capped Chickadee". Avoid this app.

    Developer Response

The ChirpOMatic UK app identifies British birds. For birds in the U.S., such as the Black-capped Chickadee, you need the U.S. version of the app, called ChirpOMatic USA.
  • Does not identify birds

Nice idea but the app does not identify birds. Completely worthless.

    Developer Response

This app, ChirpOMatic UK, only identifies British birds. For birds in the U.S., you need the U.S. version of the app, called ChirpOMatic USA.
