  • No longer works / not supported

    This looked like exactly what I needed to document a couple of personal projects - finally a journal app that lets me focus on something other than my feelings! Unfortunately it appears to no longer be supported. You can’t upgrade / unlock the most useful features, and everything crashes when you try. I’ve emailed the developer and used the helpdesk but get no response - don’t waste your time trying this out, as it’s no longer possible to use it, however good it once was

  • Untrustworthy

    I downloaded and started using this app years ago. Suddenly they changed their service. If I want to continue password protection and posting pictures to an event, I need to upgrade to the paid version. I have no problem with app developers making money, but allowing me to get years worth of entries before suddenly removing the password protection is playing dirty. Now I have to pay them or the entries that they allowed me to believe were private will all be more easily accessed by others, and it is less useful because the photos are more restricted. If that were the deal from the start, I may or may not have chosen their app. Changing their rules after I entered years worth of memories is not ok. What will they change next? I can’t trust this company so now I need to start moving the entries to a more reliable platform. If that sounds ok to you, then by all means download this app.

  • Hmmm

    I’ve used this app for years, I even bought the app before subscriptions were a thing so that I had the additional functionality. Imagine going to a shop and buying a product and then, a while later, being told that you need to pay a monthly/annual fee if you want your product to continue to work. I used it to collate data from social media and add my own journal entries. Last year, around a decade of data disappeared because I wasn’t a subscriber. So I subscribed but it didn’t recover my data. All my older social media accounts are “disconnected” and won’t reconnect and the new accounts I’ve added haven’t updated since August 17th and even those updates don’t have the images with them. Bought and app, paid the subscription but it just doesn’t deliver

  • Character limit

    I have used this app (and it’s predecessor) for years. And I’ve loved it. But apparently it has a character limit. And I don’t know what it is. There’s no counter. I’m going back through entries over the years and sentences just end. I don’t know what else I said and can’t recover it. I wish I’d known. 😢

    Hi. Don't worry, this is very likely because the 'mute' button is enabled on your device. Depending on your device settings this will mute the audio within Momento, even if your device volume is turned up. Hope this helps!
  • Not just any arbitrarily chosen design of a diary

    So far I'm quite content with Memento as my diary; I need a diary. In 2015 I suffered a cardiac arrest consequently in order to go forward in my relationship with other people I have had to write things down. I firmly believe that it has been very helpful to write things down. Especially as a woman one wants to approach many things in life as logically as one is being made able to, you don't just want to "ride and" be subjected to the storm, any forces of darkness without having a firm grip on the steering wheel at least. Your boat may lose the anchor, your boat may be full of holes, filling up with water unintentially but you need this firm grip on the wheel. I feel like singing this song of "Walking on the moon" sometimes from The Police but then I don't know all the words, because also my mother tongue is Dutch and I can only remember this much. I know the holy Spirit reigns, that is needs to have complete access, born again is where it's at. It is not "where it all comes down, man" and I smile here because this should be a marital relationship's WITH THE RIGHT LEG FORWARD HAHA one uncle had a stiff knee, aunty Yvonne was his wife in Yorkshire they lived. They just had an LP record player, can I help you? Ha ha ha...I have only a little purse with all little bits and pieces, nothing much to show for, but I know enough of what God can do once someone is fully committed to Him. (exclamation mark could also suffice).

  • My favorite app for over a decade!

    As a memory keeper & family storyteller this app has been essential in helping me to remember the stories that I never want to forget. I’ve used this app since 2012 to record funny things my kids have said or done, special moments, and important things that I know will fade over time. The ability to pair photos with these memories has been priceless and have enabled me to scrapbook things that happened years ago that I totally forgot about. And being able to open the app and scroll through memories that happened “on this day” is fantastic and brings me so much joy. Thanks for making and maintaining this awesome app!

  • Lock/security feature

    Been a Momento user since waaay back and it’s unfortunate that the lock feature/use of Face ID is now only available for the premium subscription. I understand the reasoning why developers would do this. At the same time I feel like something that has to do with security should be an available option regardless whether it’s a free or premium subscription. Please at least let that be an option to all users and not just for premium users.

  • Used to be a good app, but ….

    I’ve used Momento for years with no problems, but recently had difficulty uploading photos to my diary entries. I now realise why - a fee is being charged going forward for including more than one photo per entry. To start this for new subscribers would be fair enough, but to impose it on people like me who’ve loyally stuck with the app for a long time is taking the Michael. So as of today I’ve discontinued using the app. The developers don’t even bother replying when I ask them a question, and I’m darned if I’m going to pay a subscription for the dubious privilege of being ignored! Avoid - as I’ve found, there are free diary apps out there that are every bit as good.

    Hi Jan, so sorry to hear you've been having some issues with your Premium functionality. It sounds like you need to 'Restore Purchases' to regain functionality you have previously paid for. You can do this in Settings > Premium > Restore Purchases (at the bottom of the screen). Please make sure you're logged into the Apple ID you originally used to purchase this functionality. Our FAQ article covers this in some more detail — this can be found in app via Settings > Support. I've checked our support activity and can't see any unanswered requests from you with regard to this, so I apologise if our response didn't get through to you.   • Love so far

    I really like this app and it’s the best in core concept I have found so far but please, you have to add auto saving. As a new user, I spent a while writing my event’s notes and mid writing I went to check on some emails, came back and it was all gone. Nothing more frustrating than that. It happened to me when using the premium lock feature. If not auto save at least a better way of ram management so that it doesnt lose the written text after 1 min with the app not having been force closed.

    (Edit) they have a draft feature i didn’t know about that solved the issue, great app!

    Hi, sorry to hear you're having some trouble. Momento does auto-save entries should you leave the app without manually saving. It will be automatically saved as a draft. Simply tap the '+' icon again and you will be prompted to retrieve a draft if one exists.     They have now locked feeds from the past, so that you need to pay a subscription fee to see them. I used to love this app.

We continue to provide a comprehensive set of features completely free of charge but we've had to limit some functionality related to feeds due to the ongoing maintenance and development required to support feed functionality in the app. As we rely on revenue generated from our subscription in order to maintain and further develop Momento, we have reserved these features for paying customers.
