False alerts

I have had my dad for all of 1 day and it’s already sent a false alert. I love the concept but I’m deleting the app until this is fixed, and after reading similar accounts of false alerts, it seems like Tigerlight either doesn’t know how to doesn’t care to fix the issue. This is major concern because you’re either terrifying everyone with false alerts or they’ll get to the point where they think the app is crying wolf again and not come to your rescue. Both scenarios make this app completely useless and somewhat dangerous. Tigerlight you need to fix this. This tech is the reason why I bought this product in the first place and now I just have a $130 canister of pepper spray in a pretty plastic case. What was the point of that.

warning about website.

cant pair device. website is a sham and blocked for data leakage.

Good concept bad execution

Constantly receive and sends false alerts. Get notifications telling me I am in danger. Worry about crying wolf and ignoring an alert that is actually real.

Amazing!

Just bought 3 more D.A.D. 2 for my family! The app has worked flawlessly for us. I can’t even tell you how good it feels to send your child out with friends knowing they have this to protect them from anything. On top of that, I will be alerted with their location if they do use it. I also don’t go anywhere without it! Love love love!!!

False alerts

So, I downloaded this app a few days ago because I purchased the pepper sprayer / alert for my wife. The app has sent false alerts 2 days in a row. I don’t have the app open and only opened it to send an I’m ok alert. What good is a safety device you can’t trust. We’ll probably be sending the pepper sprayer back if this continues again.

Response from developer

Hello, sorry to hear you have had difficulty. We are very easy to reach by phone 435-671-3331 or email info@tigerlight.net. Both are at the top of the tigerlight.net home page and in the confirmation emails sent out when you ordered the product. The reason you are sending alerts is because you have not completed the “lock-on” procedure shown in the set-up videos. This has to be done with every D.A.D. app. Otherwise, other bluetooth devices, even the bluetooth in a passing vehicle, can possibly set off your alert. This procedure is not the same as pairing, but simply tells your app to ONLY respond to D.A.D. devices, any D.A.D. device. If you complete the process with your app, you will eliminate these false alerts. If you have any questions, please call us at 435-671-3331 and be sure to leave a message if we are unable to respond. We will call back ASAP, usually within minutes.

Great Idea. Not so great software.

Idea has promise but, the app has some bugs. There are several things that make the app give false messages. An inventory gun in a bar kept setting off the app. The app keeps going off while driving down the road even if the D. A. D. is not in the car. There is something out there using the same technology as the D. A. D. that keeps activating it. Needs some work. My daughter’s D. A. D. Keeps sending false danger messages. She had decided to delete the app from her phone.

Confusing alerts

Ive only received a few alerts, one was an “I’m OK” from Ryan K. All the others seem to be from ME. Yesterday I was 1/4 mile away from a danger alert. Luckily my wife was driving. I jumped out of the truck and darted across 4 lanes of stopped traffic to run to the location.....nothing. That’s when I noticed all my danger alerts had my own name attached. Will someone please explain this? I’ve tried looking up a way to contact the developer but had to settle for this review.

Device & App saved my daughter!!!

We bought the new D.A.D. 2 for my 17-year-old daughter traveling by herself to Italy to be an au pair in Rome for three months. None of us have ever owned or used anything like it before. Before she left, we (her parents) downloaded the app, and my daughter did as well. We made sure we had everything set up correctly and did a couple of test alerts to make sure it was working. It seemed to be! I just wasn't quite sure if it would work with her clear over in Italy.

The day she arrived in Italy she did a test on it and we did receive the alert on the app. That was nice to know it was going to work clear across the world! Just one day under her being there for a month, she and another au pair from a different city were traveling together in Naples, a more "sketchy" town in Italy. It was dark and they were wise to stay on the more crowded and lit streets. My daughter was also wearing her D.A.D. for safety. They were making their way back to their Airbnb when a man came running full speed at them, grabbed the other girl around her neck as well as grabbing her phone. My daughter used the D.A.D. and sprayed him. He let go of the other girl and she and my daughter ran off to find safety with other people.

I got the alert that my daughter was in danger on my D.A.D. app. I immediately started trying to contact her, but I did not hear from her for about five minutes as both girls were trying to get to safety and figure out what had really happened.

In the meantime, I had the location of where she was at on my app. I called the family that she was working for in Rome and gave them that information so she could call the police. We were blessed to have no injuries and not even anything stolen. And I feel like it was all because of the D.A.D.! It was a HUGE comfort to me knowing that I had the time and place of where it occurred and I could notify the local authorities in Italy.

This app did exactly what it is supposed to do and proved itself invaluable in a situation like this. This app can save lives and WILL save lives if there you use it.

Great Concept!

The crowd alert is a wonderful feature. I like the idea of people nearby coming to my aid. Much quicker than 911, especially in remote locations.

Great app; new version still works consistently

I have this app on my family's iPhones and Android phones so we can all be alerted if an emergency pops up. Works well in lots of conditions and locations.
