Fixed a problem on the watch where some views couldn't be dismissed. Additionally, added the ability to select the rate at which the display changes to the color red to indicate tachycardia or tachypnea. You can also disable this feature by setting the rapid rate value to 0 (off). You can also play a sound every time a tap is made.

We've added an easier way to reset the rate value. Just perform a long-touch on top of the rate number to bring up a small menu. From there you'll have two choices: reset the rate to zero or display some common heart and respiratory rates for adults, children, infants and neonates.

TapRate uses simple math and some sample timings to calculate a person's heart or breathing rate. The indicated rate turns from orange to green after several samples have been collected and an average rate is calculated. It turns red to reflect an elevated heart rate above 100 beats/min (useful only when measuring a heart rate). Using the hand with your watch on it, feel for a radial pulse or observe a person's breathing rate by watching their chest rise and fall. Every time one of these events occurs, tap the button with a finger from your other hand.
TapRate has been redesigned from the ground-up to work with the latest versions of iOS and WatchOS and now includes a CPR event timer specifically designed for first-responders. The WatchOS version can operate independently of the iPhone version.

Description of TapRate
Measure and calculate heart and respiratory rates using your iPhone or Apple Watch. All that's required is that you be able to feel a radial pulse rate or observe a respiratory rate, and then tap!
After a few recorded samples your rate will be displayed. Practice to become more proficient and accurate. If you're a healthcare professional (nurse, EMT, etc.) be sure to practice and compare your rates to those obtained using more traditional techniques and/or diagnostic measurement tools. Once you're comfortable using TapRate you'll be able to obtain heart and respiratory rates within seconds, which is way faster than waiting 15 or 30 seconds doing the same thing manually.
