Even a Grillmaster can struggle with managing different meats going on the grill at different times. Especially during gatherings like the 4th of July. Throw in a few picky eaters (kids who hate the slightest pink center) and buddies who want to chat you up while your grilling and it can become controlled chaos very quickly.
This simple to use app can be quite the helper. I use each grill space with multiple like meats and donenesses. (Is that a word?) My grill has multiple areas for different temps as well as indirect heat. With some additions this could be a magnificent grilling tool.
First, add different meat thicknesses. A 3/4” ribeye does not have the same med rare cook time as an 1-1/2” ribeye.
Second, instead of just HIGH or MED HIGH etc. give actual grill temp 400-500, 450-550, etc.
Third, provide center temp for that specific meat, cut, thickness, doneness during last phase of cooking.
Finally, provide appropriate *rest times for each meat, cut, thickness. Rest time is the most important part of superior grilling. It’s the difference between a juicy tender steak and a dry tough steak. Make that clear in the app.
*Rest time is the time after removing the meat from the grill. Meat should go into a sealed container with like meats for no less than 5 minutes before serving. This allows the meat to relax and soak back in the juices. As well as collect delicious au jus to pour over them when served.
I anxiously await...
