  • High Fees and Minimal Support for Workers

They give minimal support to the workers and usually favor a the buyers.

There are so many fees. On the base level, if you do $1000 worth of work, 11.5% goes to Field Nation. Because you worked and earned $1000, you have to pay this app $115 to do so and you make $885. If you make $100k you’re paying the app $11,500.

They’ve incorporated top tier to get preferred status as well. So even if you’re an excellent tech that can provide great service to their companies, you have to pay more to see those work orders. Basically, you can lose more money to get preferred status. Which for me, means I just don’t use field nation as much.

The companies that hire through Field Nation are mostly middlemen, which means 2 or 3 companies are getting paid before you do, which means most don’t want to pay a decent rate.

As a contractor you have to pay for your tools, insurance, transportation, have no benefits (medical, dental, 401k, sick time, vacation) and your tax bill is serious. I’d hate to see the number of workers that have gotten in a bad situation with the IRS, because of these apps. I know I did. So pay all that, go climb ladders, get covered in insulation and get put in difficult situations just to pay 11.5% or more to field nation.

  • Angry owner

We at Protech appreciate all the work you send our way. When ever there is a dispute with a customer you always resolve it, but I do have 3- issues that no other platform does. 1- Hard Starts were and should only be used on certain circumstances IE: Bridge calls, customer staying late or arriving early and CRT. Turn-ups involving multiple people and or other people involved in that peculiar job. 2- your 10% which is well deserved should not include expenses, you don’t deserve 10% of what I request for travel. I maintain, fuel and insure all our vehicles. 3- you OAI Insurance , we at Protech are completely insured and except all liability's That’s why I gave you 2-stars only. We make you a lot of money for a small business but we are not a 1- man crew using Uber, which I personally seen. 10% of any wages is not in dispute it’s all the exters you charge. I have all insurance and Business paper work. Before you respond which I hope you do. Check the income Protech provides. Thank you sincerely, John Daly President

  • New to me, buggy, frustrating, holding my money

UPDATE Some bugs maybe gone. Most important, PUSH NOTIFICATIONS STILL DON’T WORK ON SEVERAL PHONES! I lose jobs because I don’t get notified, even routed ones. Also, App STILL shows jobs 10+ hours drive away before ones that are even just a few hours drive. Listed by closest and it shows me the very close then the furthest away yet before any a few hours away, for years now. Ridiculous from a ‘tech company’ making good $ off us. They also charge us money on reimbursement of materials and expenses!! Like parking& rentals. ———

Buggy! NOW I don’t get notifications or emails for local Jobs! New phone on 16.1.2, bugs now hamper functionality much worse, with no work around. These guys are cheap and lazy with fixes and development. This app is just junk. And no care or concern by the developer. Today I click on a job and bid on it, then realize it’s NOT the job I clicked on! I almost had to drive for 6 hours and fix something for $65, canceled my request once I noticed. The app keeps jumping around on listed jobs, as you click on them!. Amazing how poor this is every day. UPDATE ON THE UPDATE Nov22 Well, no big fixes I see. Still have to hit a bunch of things to refresh the list. Pushes are few and instead they email me things? Pushes are more useful for things that might be time sensitive, so make them work. Haven’t checked the other bugs like Qualifications come and go. Have to still force quit the app to make some things work. Again, I could go on and on. Clearly they don’t read reviews, don’t really focus on fixing this and making work, yet they charge a huge premium for a sub-par platform. UPDATE 5 Oh wait! it gets worse. Clearly FAKE REVIEWS on here. The bug of not being able to complete the company that I reported to them over and over never got resolved. So now once my payment is due to be transferred, they silently changed it to another week. I happens to be watching to see how it works. Calling in, once again, blames me and they say there is missing info. When I go look at the checklist for the ‘company’, they are all green and completed. Yet they still insist it isn’t. And they didn’t even communicate it to me. So when will I get paid??? How??? They guys are holding my money. Be careful and if you need the money to show on time, don’t count on it. They are silently keeping in perpetuity. The company and app are kind of broken and really don’t put you first. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Unless you like these games, STAY AWAY! Come on, this app is frustrating on a daily basis. You might get jobs, yet the app and the service and the website and the support is just poor. These guys charge a HEFTY premium and hold you money from jobs for a bit before you get it. They are charging both sides and pocketing a lot, with little to staffing, platform improvements. NO WAY are all these reviews legit, how would it get 4.8 with all the constant frustrating bugs, limitations, etc. I have to force quit constantly to make is show thins correctly. Impressively amateur. UPDATE 4 After using the service and app for a while and doing jobs, the App continues to underwhelm. Buggy as heck. Push notifications don’t work for many things. Refreshing causes a multi step process to get back to what you were looking at. Qualifications disappear so you can’t request a job, so you have to force quit to fix that and other issues. Confusing unintuitive uploads, so hard to review them. Slow to update the jobs list. Just a lack lustre frustrating app for high tech professionals, amazing. And they take a huge commission off your pay despite their lack of development, polish and support. And many glowing reviews are obviously stuffed with fake reviews. UPDATE 3 What a frustrating app, every time you go in you have to hop through a bunch of stuff to look at or check jobs. Just want to go in, refresh, and out. And vendors can post a job and sit there for weeks without responding, waiting for a myriad of people to apply meanwhile you can’t schedule, yet you have to keep it open. Poor on FN’s part to allow that. UPDATE 2 App can’t actually sort jobs by location, and doesn’t show nearby jobs sometimes. Job list bounces back and forth on how many jobs are available as you look at it. Buggy. Reopening and looking at jobs keep asking to choose a ‘provider’ then shows some side menu. Just a frustrating, not intuitive, nor user friendly, not mature app and web interface too. Mobile page is terribly frustrating. Just gobsmacked for a big tech company like this to have such a low calibre platform. UPDATE It gets worse. This is a big tech company?? And they are all anal about the freelancers on their site? Oh and when you look at jobs, it doesn’t know how to sort by the closest to you, even when you choose, closest to you. Some jobs don’t even show in certain sorts and searches. Wow. All in two days. There are a couple jobs of interest, yet I may be at the bottom of the list with this type of functionality. ___ Amazing for tech company let alone a mature one to have such a confusing, convoluted app and service. I can do some things on the app and other things on the web, yet not both on either. So so many hassles, phone in and they ah e to escalate the issues to someone that will take at least 2 business days. I want to go after some jobs but may lose them as they have to fix the bugs and then ‘approve’ me. Nothing says anywhere that I have to be ‘approved’ before I can do anything. It just keeps telling me to verify my email and I do and go in a circle.
