Don’t bother using them
Last week I had the driver complaining at me that the price was to low and quizzing me if I had paid online. I explained to him that I had paid more than Uber ever charged He took his sweet time writing down notes, before setting off about the booking and almost made me late.
I’ve overlooked the times I have got in A1 cars and the interiors are scruffy and smell. Or the times drivers blast their own preferred taste in music at you.
The last straw for me was this Thursday morning.
I had booked a taxi for 09:30 the night before for a £14 journey for work. At a location I don’t normally go to. Cause the trains were up the wall.
I had to call up at 09:00 to see if the booking had worked as the booking was blank on the app. They confirmed it was due. At 9:30 the app showed it was going to take 403 mins for my taxi to arrive. So I ignored it as a technical glitch and waited for the text to say they had arrived to ping me. I had been up since 08:00, had worked till late the night before and had a long day ahead of me so realised there were a few bits I had forgotten before I could step out of the door.
I got the text saying he had arrived. Within two minutes the driver called and I said I would be a minute or so.I left my front door open to show I was coming to.
I went to my front door and got ‘Enamuls’ attention and gestured sorry and ild be two minutes. Then another minute or so later whilst I was rushing round like a mad women. The phone started ringing again. I ignored as I was just getting my shoes on to get out the door. I then exited my house and locked my front door. Then literally as I went to open the taxi door he locked it and said the office had just cancelled my booking and I would have to rebook. To which I said ‘please no!! I have to get to work. ‘
With my several bags attached to me in the pissing rain I then started trying to get on my phone to rebook to repay him but he just drove off.
Yeah I get that I made the driver wait a few minutes but the way that was done was the most backwards pile of crap I have ever experienced and it made me feel awful. As well as stressed about getting to work.
Luckily an Uber came and got me within 2/3 minutes of booking, the annoying thing was I was 5 minutes late for work because of the delay with A1.
Officially deleted the app, I wanted to support a local business using A1 but the service as explained is awful. I wouldn’t recommend using them unless you are desperate.
