Best on-the-go music app

This app is fantastic! As a blind musician, this app is one of the very few that is actually totally useable with VoiceOver. Hats off to Ableton for making this app accessible for us little guys. Extremely impressed. There are some very minor improvements that can be made to improve ease of use, like the macro labels being duplicated. Since the knobs themselves are labeled, I wish they would hide the text label, as it only adds an additional swipe to focus on the next knob. Nevertheless, this is a minor complain in an overall great app. Even the MIDI note editor is accessible, though not too useable, as it takes too long to use. Having a sequencer for the notes would be much faster, so first, touching the note you want to edit, then focusing on a step editor and moving through the note steps would be great.

The Innovative Solution

Very useful app for making a bank of found sounds on the go . It’s a very powerful tool / companion too Ableton Live Suite and because of its usability and simplistic nature it’s always available in your hand . I started on this on the week of its release and have seen it grow and change into what we have now . Pro :The cloud is great and uploading too it is very easy. Con : there is some hidden changes too the important aspects of Simpler as it doesn’t load in the same format. Pro: it has the ability to capture audio straight into each drum rack pad with some rudimentary edit and manipulation functionality. Con: as of yet there is no 32but float function which can make it challenging too monitor and record in real time .Pro: there’s a grid with quantise and nudge functions etc . Con : it’s a bit fiddly to get into could do with a latch /gate function on a single button for quick editing so you can monitor the other sounds and output while making changes. Pro : there’s a mixer that utilises touch strips and allows for gain structure. Con. It’s a challenge too see the level of multi touch fader movements on smaller phones while editing. I rate this app a solid 8/10 . For where it’s currently at with a few more granular and spectral functions and some au integration it will be a great daw on your phone . Well done and Thank you . Too everyone at Ableton excited and inspired for what you do next 🙏👏

This app is amazing

This app is cool and all but could yall make it like ableton where theres a a landscape mode like instead of just loops

Be aware of the cloud syncing

Make sure you open the correct version of your track on the right device before syncing deletes your new project with an older version. Screwed up projects by opening older sets. Was digging a track I was working on a while back. Listened to it earlier in the day on my iPhone, then decided after work that I wanted to work on it that same project again but from the iPad instead. When I opened the project it was an older state and was confused so I linked WiFi and when I opened the project from my iPhone it synced with the older project because I had just opened it and linked to the the internet. Damn I hope there’s a way to view various renditions of projects because that sucks if all my work just got erased from a stupid error like not opening the correct one first. How many projects has this happened with I think now.

Drift Restore Purchase Bug Persist

Once the in-app purchase for Drift is made, you have to constantly restore the purchase. If you are away from wifi or cellular data, it shows as if you haven't bought Drift. Then after restoring the purchase, the bug persists occasionally, but often. I already reached out to support via email months ago. They said that is not the way it's supposed to go. They said you do not need internet to keep using Ableton Note or the Drift in-app purchase once you have made the purchase.

I don't always want to be connected to the internet, plus if you are on vacation and you don't have internet everywhere you are going, then the Drift in-app purchase bug is not acceptable.

Other than that, Ableton Note is EXCELLENT, but it will take some time to trust that i can use Ableton Note & the Drift in-app purchase offline. They still have not fixed it and it's been a bug that has persisted for months & with other people too. That's not acceptable.

Response from developer

Hey there, Thank you for your feedback. We have identified a fix for the issue you're describing and are planning on shipping this with the next update to Note.

Wow! From a big mobile studio user

Im a huge mobile music studio user and I gotta say that I love what Ableton has done with Note. They’re definitely carving out their own niche in the game.

6/23/26
Best version ever! The scrolling instrument menu at the top of the current instrument allows users to choose established tracks without having to back out of the presented instrument view…big time saver.

Have to wash but its ok

Sometime I use this app while using the toilet and I end up with the residual material dry making it harder to clean.

A Five Star Experience With A Glaring Issue

A melodic rhythm struck me late into the evening, computer powered down and bed calling, but I had to jot it fast or it’d be gone with the wind—Ableton Note’s (reasonably priced) selling point. So I purchased the app, impressed with the sounds and options for creativity except… the rhythm in my head was in 5/4. I’ve scoured the internet, searched Note’s manual, and yes sure I can switch the met off and play it but I needed to see it in a grid to understand the counter rhythm to the beat. Changing the time signature is like surely the most basic function a DAW can perform so I’m still questioning myself, wondering if I’m overlooking something obvious—flabbergasting nonetheless when I can choose from every scale known to humankind for the digital instruments but there isn’t a little dropdown menu in the metronome tab for different times. Hope to update this to five stars soon if Ableton can correct this.

Response from developer

Hi there, thank you for your review! Ableton Note is designed for quick sketches, therefore we tried keeping it simple. However, we work hard to give all of our customers a great experience, and we want to keep improving. We have forwarded your feature wish to the team and really appreciate your feedback. In the meantime, you can start your idea in 4/4, use Ableton Cloud to open the project in Ableton Live, and change the time signature to 5/4 there. Feel free to add other feature requests to our improvement plan by opening the Help menu in Note's Setting Page and then tapping the "Feedback" button.

Interesting app

Interesting, but no support for aum and audiobus. Planning?

?

Why isn't the Drift Synthesizer showing up after purchase?

This was my favorite app, now midi stopped working

For the longest time this worked flawless with external midi keyboard, then suddenly midi functionality seams to stopped working. I tried a different keyboard, still not working, however my controller works perfectly fine in garage band. Not sure why this functionality stopped working….

Beauty

It’s beauty I wish it more beauty

Best App For Music Creation

Nothing else comes close. This is a premium product and it delivers. The drift synth was well worth the upgrade. I hope they continue development as I would be willing to pay for more features.

Sample

Sample on iPhone is so useful, most useful functionality.

I would like to give it 5 stars

It has the most amazing workflow for recording your jams. 10/5 stars for that, do not ever change this, it’s perfect. Loading samples though it’s at the other end of the scale. Even recording to pad is unnecessarily complex. Just takes too much time. We need drag and drop from playable list in the folder. Please please

Disappointing update to pad layout

Hope its a bug. Displaying larger range of notes on pad has ruined how I use the app. Less accessible now that there are too many buttons on the pad closer together. Hope they at least provide an option to get back to the old pad layout

Amazing!

This is a very powerful on the go version of a real daw. Perfect for mobile! If you are into music production, especially if you’re a Ableton user, this is a must have. Cloud sync is great for transferring files! Love the updates as well!!!
