TERRIBLE

VERY BAD BAD BAD

Not enough volume available for accompaniment

Great idea but not much use as it is.
I bought three pieces to practice for my Grade 1 cello exam.
Main reason I shelled out £5.97 was for the ability to change the pace of the pieces so I could gradually get up to full speed.
The problem is that, even when played through a Bose Bluetooth speaker I can’t get enough volume to hear the piano accompaniment above my cello. 🤬🤬
The only way I can hear it clearly is to play very softly, and as the pieces contain crescendos and decrescendos, it really isn’t much use.

Could be good need to fix looping

This could be a really useful app if the positional and looping controls were made easier to use. On my iPhone 12 the “handles” to move the loops and the position of play back are much too small and close together so that you skip from one to the other. Make the loop and playback handles bigger and further apart.

Make the above bigger than the cartoon cello and piano. Their usability is more important than the cartoons.

Also let the app appear in landscape mode so the playback line is longer allowing for finer-grained positioning.

Also the slow down wheel is hard to use. Just have wheel left to right that you double tap to reset rather than have to switch it on and off then turn a unintuitive set of dots.

Good but needs serious bug fix

It’s a great idea, and works well from a learning point of view, but when you buy a collection of pieces it takes the money (8.99) but doesn’t let you access the pieces. In the past it has sorted itself out if I just leave it for a few weeks but I recently purchased all the grade 4 pieces. (I say recently, but really about 4 months ago) and I still can’t access them. This is really frustrating because they have taken my money but I haven’t got the pieces. It gives me an option to buy the pieces separately but I can’t purchase the package again. I give it three stars because it works well except for the bugs. Would be great If this could be sorted.

I’m a bit confused

Are you just supposed to play by ear? Where is the written music to read and follow along with? I don’t want to purchase the tunes if they don’t come with sheet music of some sort. Otherwise, this looks and sounds great.

Cannot get app to work

I have tried playing the track it doesn’t play and if I try and download music is crashes...?
I think it may have charged me too!

Looks good so far...!! Metronome?

Great idea and about time! Is there any chance a metronome could be added as when students play together with solo cello keeping time can be a problem... this would be ideal

Doesn’t work - Just keeps crashing

Trying to add pieces other than the sample and every time the app crashes. Tried to delete and reload but same issue. Disappointing. The piano version works well, so not sure why there’s an issue with this cello version which is unusable.

Crashes when adding new pieces

Current version will collapse when trying to add more pieces other than the sample. Apparently I’m not alone. Developers need to fix the bug once and for all, or leave detailed solution here so other users can see it. Much less effective if you keep directing people to email support.

Currently blows up every time you click...

Currently blows up every time you click the blue “get more pieces” button

Frequently Crashes

Many of the links I try to access crash the app for an unknown reason

Yaaaaaaas!!! Finally!!!

Fantastic app! Love the features and ease of use!

I’d like to see some integration between buying the Grade Book and perhaps accessing upto 3 pieces on the practise partner. I’ve bought the book, the CD and now have to pay an additional £5.97 to practise the three pieces I’ve chosen for the grade I’m working on!!! I’ve done it anyway because it’s fantastically useful but it would be nice for there to be a bit of a reward for investment into the brand.

I’m really looking forward using it as part of my daily practise.

Superb

Really glad to see ABRSM have made an app for cello players. This app is really easy to use with a super-simple interface and cute illustrations. I’ll be recommending to all my pupils as this will really help them get to know their pieces on a deeper level.
