This app is just horrible user experience .. cannot download updates, just says “pending” - connected to the Garmin WifI…just terrible

I am trying to find the latest software update for my Echomap UDH2-7. Your instructions seem clear, but then I can't find the links to the steps I'm being instructed to follow.

Chart updates and downloads, settings, not very user friendly. You’re always switching from app to Garmin site. Says free updates but always ask a new price, need a computer, micro SD card, phone/tablet etc….
Way to much to manage, videos to look at, connections, devices to use etc….
Can say that after 5 years we’re a bit more experienced but still not truly appreciating the overall practicality it offers

Lake Champlain fishing
The Charts give me the opportunity to scout spots fishing for lake trout. Couldn’t be happier with the Active Captain and all my Garmin electronics.

Compared to other electronics Garmin has the best with being able to update. After my experience with Garmin all my electronics are Garmin now

Not user friendly
This app is a joke. I don’t understand why I can’t just connect my chart plotter to my wifi network to update the device. To use this app you must toggle between connecting to the chart plotter network and your own network with a WAN. The app never gives me the option to select what I want to sync nor do I know when or how to download a software update when connected to the WAN.
Another issue is you must have a SD ActiveCaptain card to even connect so if you only have one SD slot you also have to toggle between SD cards. Plan on spending way too much time trying to connect to a network and get updates.
