Beginners critique
I have only played one and a half campaigns so far, and while I am very much enjoying this system, I do have some critiques. The open-minded (I say that loosely) AI system is usually very accommodating to my imagination. I have Ben able to create custom objects, artifacts, dynamics, and even deep relationships in an imaginary world. Sometimes I feel as though the ai is too accommodating, but that is not something I would change. This should be left to the individual player as it currently is. If the player chooses to create overpowered items and dynamics, that is their choice. I believe good TTRPG gives you the immersive experience that you allow. My critiques however I mainly two topics forced battle and social dynamics. With an AI system that is able to create so much so fast. I feel like there is a missed opportunity in the dynamics of your social interactions. I actually get a little annoyed when my teammates agree with whatever plan I come up with and many times give me justification for my own plan. I believe a little more opposition would add a huge amount of depth to the immersion experience. If each character has a goal in life(even a simple one), they should be able to voice a disagreement when their ideals come in conflict with your own. That doesn’t mean I can’t convince them but if everything always goes my way, it takes a lot of the fun out and does not feel very dynamic. The next issue is that battle feels forced. There are many times in my campaigns were battles fit the storyline and narrative. However, there are a lot of battle that pop-up literally out of nowhere that do not align with the story or the current situation. It is as though there is a timer between battles that regardless of where you are or what you are doing, the system says another one has to happen. I was in the middle of a conversation with a teammate that was getting married when a moth creature pops up out of nowhere in the middle of our dwelling. I was so annoyed with the randomness of it that instead of fighting it I wrote it out of the script. having to do that completely kicks me out of the immersion of the story. It’s OK to have periods of downtime where there is no battle but instead a mission involving diplomacy or a heist to steal something without being noticed. Scenarios like that helped develop the story but interrupting with random monster fights destroys the flow. I gave this a four star rating only because there’s no option between a four and a five. I really do enjoy the system and will continue playing it, but I do believe those two critiques if addressed would improve the experience immensely. thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck on your next adventure.
