Beneath the slow-motion catastrophe is an air-quality app that genuinely works: • LIVE AIR QUALITY INDEX — Your current AQI for exactly where you're standing, plus a plain reading of what that number means for you today. (Spoiler: it varies.) • POLLUTANT BREAKDOWN — Meet the things you're inhaling — PM2.5, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and the rest of the gang — each with notes on where it came from and what it's doing to you. Riveting stuff. • HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS — Sensible advice for the current air, which you are of course free to nod along to and then ignore. • A SCENE THAT RESPONDS — A parallax world that shifts with your air and the time of day, drifting gently as you tilt your phone.
