Phaser Control
Where is it? An absolutely crucial part of the Solina sound the phaser control. And why are the button controls counterintuitive? Completely the WRONG way around. Obviously, when something is ON it should be LIT and when it is OFF it should be UNLIT! Are you not using the same visual cues as EVERYBODY ELSE ON EARTH??

Kinda sounds like a 70’s string machine but..
Gives you the idea of a 70’s string machine but it falls short especially in triggering - gating. Would be nice the give the option for multiple voice sustain and not gate the voices off.
Close but Not There...
I was expecting to get pretty close to a genuine Solina, even given this is an app and emulation. Yet, when you activate the modulation button, you don’t get that authentic Jean Michel Jarre or Tangerine Dream-esque tonal quality that the real instrument would deliver. Again, it’s an app so you get what you pay for. Hopefully the developer will tweak things to get that modulation reproduction more precise.

Works fine on iPad Air2 ios14. Would be perfekt with Midi CC’s and integrated Phaser.

I am so grateful that this app exists. I’ve wanted that classic Solina String Ensemble sound for forever and this app delivers. I really can’t speak to the bad reviews, the app has never been buggy for me nor has it crashed. A def secret weapon for any keyboard player.

This app costs too much money for what you get. The sound effects are terrible. Wish I could get my money back.

Sounds amazing! I was a little confused at first with the button state. When they are bright red, the state is 'off'. When they are dark red the state is 'on'. I would imagine it to be the other way. Just a small niggle, great. It even support IAA.

That's what this sounds like. For a few bucks.
For me, it's directly out of my early new wave dreams. You could buy a used iPhone and a used MIDI controller and have *that* sound, ready to go for considerably less than the real thing. Easy easy buy.

Excellent, very authentic sound
I had been waiting for a long time hoping there would be a string machine ipad app and at last here it is.
I had a genuine Solina string ensemble mk iv and I can honestly say this is spot on with the sound and layout featuring viola, violin, brass and horn. Even better is that the contra bass and cello are polyphonic which they weren't on the original solina . The crescendo control is very smooth and gives that warm swelling of volume effect so reminiscent of the solina.The controls are very easy to use and what is great is you can add and customise extra modulation. What would be great on a future update is an option to change the layout of its virtual keyboard as I found the current double setup makes the keys a bit narrow but of course thats just my personal feeling. Also would be nice to have the facility to store ones own patches at some future stage.
Whats also great is you can easily change the midi channel which by default is set to omni mode. If anyone thinking of buying wants to hear what this app sounds like first there is a good demo and review on youtube which you can find by typing aline string into the youtube search . I am really happy with this app.

Good start but not quite there yet
It is great to have a string machine recreation for the iPad. The samples on this instrument are good and the switches for selection of sounds are accurate but:
Notes played appear to cut out the decay of previous notes, which spoils the realism and musical effect.
Annoyingly the buttons for selected tones dim rather than light up which I find confusing.
With regard to the samples, there are none with the ensemble effect on the original instrument turned off, which is a shame.
The artwork for the keyboard black keys is somehow not pleasing.

A Thick, Classic Sound in Your Pocket
I've never played a real Solina before -- and, given the prices of vintage gear, probably never will. This app gets me as close as I need to that thick 70s string sound. On the original gear, the envelope options were a little crude; and with some settings, you'll hear a sucking sound at the end of notes. If vintage is what you want, that's the true vintage sound. If, at some point, the developer adds an option to use modern, polyphonic envelopes in place of the single, vintage-style envelope, I'll turn it on and leave it on. In the meantime, I'm enjoying this classic sound.

N'ayant pas la chance d'avoir un Solina String Ensemble, c'est l'application que j'attendais sur iPad. Je neeux pas comparer avec l'original, masi ça sonne magnifiquement. Coupléavec un phaser ou un chorus, on retrouve l'ampleur de ces sons si présents dans les années 70. Beau travail !
