Lots of Bugs and Poor UI
Does not work
Good alternative, free tier is great
Nice Indie Recipe App
I initially had some issues with the app, and I’m very impressed with the developer’s response to critique and fast update to reflect their promises! They addressed several of my concerns and opening the app again I was immediately so much more interested in continuing to use the app. I’ve had good experiences with the import recipe feature and now it’s all on my homepage for easy reference without having to scroll around through features that didn’t interest me.
There is also much more clarity on what comes with the premium version/what is free. I’m happy to say that it is a very usable free app and so far do not feel pushed to upgrade. I might do so in the future since tracking my macros is appealing - my lifestyle just doesn’t need it at the moment.
I’m keeping my previous notes because I think the way they responded was commendable & it highlights why we should support indie developers!
Previous review:
I downloaded this because the creator is on Reddit talking about how the app is mostly free with just a few upgradable features like tracking macros/etc. I’m not sure if they changed their mind, but it says “Import unlimited recipes” as a feature for premium. So… there’s a limit? That’s not mostly free. I don’t even know the limit - a little transparency would be nice.
The homepage is a mess and makes me not want to use the app. First of all, there’s a banner up advertising a future AI Personal Assistant. Not only do I have zero interest in using an assistant, but it’s not even usable right now! So why is the banner taking up so much space? I hope they include a way to “close this option and not bring it back unless I ask” feature.
The homepage also has a million things it wants you to “start.” Like it’s in tutorial mode. But it’s asking me to do all these things I have no interest in using the app for (import recipe from text, start a cookbook for example.) it’s taking up all this space for nothing. I wish there was a way to end tutorial mode or close out of these. When I open an app I want to get to what I came there for an not be overloaded by it basically begging me to try new features.
Idk, I was just really looking forward to downloading this after seeing the creator boast about it on Reddit. So to open it up and be inundated with tutorials for simple tasks, unwanted AI chats, and unclear expectations for the free vs premium versions (and to be clear - I have no problem paying for apps and supporting creators. But I need to know that the additional features are actually worth it and I certainly don’t want to pay for an AI analysis of recipes - especially if I can’t opt out of seeing it or unnecessarily generating things I don’t need.)
I’ll give it a few more days and adjust my review if needed. But in the meantime I’m going to keep an eye out for a simple recipe app that just lets me import and view my recipes. That’s literally all I’m asking for lol.
Game changer
Has potential, however…

The recipes are wrong
Was once great, not anymore.
But now, you have to view the websites to see the instructions, it no longer lets you avoid virus bait websites. I understand wanting to support cooks, but you’re turning against your own supporters in the process.
Great free app
Response from developer
Thank you so much - I’m really glad you’re enjoying it and that the folders + source links are helpful! We’re rolling out a rebuilt recipe parsing system shortly that should significantly improve ingredient accuracy. It’s been a big focus for us. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave this - feedback like this helps us keep improving.
First thoughts
Please can you add a way to remove a recipe so you never see it again if you don’t like it for some reason. For example, if I currently click the heart as if I don’t like it, the recipe is still recorded in my imports. It’s the only recipe I’ve imported (trying things out) but apparently I still have it two times in the import list. Likewise if you customise a recipe, you should be able to remove them too, which currently is impossible.
Additionally, the ability to rename recipes you have imported and / or customised would be great, as depending on where in the world you are things are called differently. For example the recipe I imported is called crock pot but in the UK we call them slow cookers. It will make it easier to share with family.
My final thought is, please make the font on the ingredients list larger. Having measurements in fractions are extremely hard to read.
Thanks!
Free Recipe Extractor that Actually Works!
No Longer Worth the Download
With this new update this app is pretty much useless. Unless you want something to simply hold the websites for all your recipes which you can easily do on the notes app don’t bother.
Pantry is a game changer
Amazing App
So helpful! & question

Response from developer
Thanks so much for sharing this feedback - and we’re really sorry for the confusion and frustration. We recently updated our website and, for a short time, the support email address was unfortunately entered incorrectly. That issue has been fixed, and you can now reach us anytime at support@allspicelabs.com, or directly in the app using the Contact Support or Feedback buttons. We also want to clarify the free vs. premium features. Importing recipes, editing recipes, grocery lists, and meal planning are completely free. Premium features are pantry tracking, searching recipes based on ingredients or proteins, creating more than a certain number of recipe folders, and additional dietary insights on recipes Importing your recipes will always be free - that’s a core commitment for us, and it’s something we care deeply about. We genuinely want this app to be a safe, long-term home for your recipes, not something you invest time into and then lose. We’d truly love to have you with us, and we’re always happy to answer questions or concerns directly. Thank you again for giving us a try and for helping us improve.
Importing recipes from IG!
media - so much easier to have the recipes on a dedicated app & I love that the app lists out the ingredients and steps from the videos so I don’t have to watch and write them down. Thanks for the free version of this app!
Good idea, bad execution
Additionally, you can’t organize ingredients. You can’t sort them or move them around. You can’t have multiple of the same ingredient for the different parts of the recipe (e.g. using x amount of milk for making sauce and y amount of milk for marinating).
It’s less of a hassle to just hand write the recipe at this point.
Response from developer
Thank you much for taking the time to write this - I’m really sorry for the frustration here. You’re absolutely right that recipe editing needs to be more flexible and reliable. I’ve just fixed the clipboard bug you mentioned, and added several improvements based directly on this feedback: the ability to reorder ingredients while editing or creating a recipe, support for adding the same ingredient multiple times, and the option to save recipes without requiring quantities for every ingredient. I’m also investigating the issue where changes weren’t saving correctly. These fixes are going out in our next update, which should be available by the end of the week. You also raised a good point about separating ingredients by usage (like “for the sauce” vs “for the meatballs”). That’s something we intentionally held back to keep things simple, but your feedback makes it clear that would be useful to have. We’re a small team, and while we test heavily, we can’t catch everything without real-world use. We genuinely appreciate hearing this, and hope you’ll give the app another try after the update. Additionally, if you have any more ideas or run into issues, you can always reach us directly through the in-app feedback or our support email (we read everything).
