What's New in Alpin

2.2.0

September 15, 2026

Wayfinding now has a real compass. The dial turns beneath a fixed marker, north is picked out in red, and it ticks every thirty degrees so you can hold a bearing without watching the screen. It also says when it cannot be trusted. A transceiver, ski poles, or a magnetic case will pull the needle, and Alpin now tells you so rather than showing a confident number. The bearing is still there if you decide you need it. Elevation and coordinates are set much larger, with each label above its reading instead of in front of it, so they can be read at arm's length. Alignment assistance has been redrawn as a horizon you bring level with two fixed marks, and it now fades away once you are square rather than sitting on the screen. It is on by default. Units can follow your device or be set to metric or imperial outright, and bearings can be measured from true or magnetic north.
