Minor Bug fixes and perfromance improvements

User reviews

Has Never Been 100% Functional

I cannot transfer money between my deposit accounts. My Zelle is frozen. In 2023 I have to *physically* go into a branch to transfer money between my accounts. Amerant does not co-öperate well with other money transfer platforms, like PayPal—or really any platform that uses the PLAID service.
so, I’m relegated to using the Zelle service through the app, which has not worked properly in months. when it did work, is was horrendously unreliable. The entire purpose of using Zelle is an instantaneous money. I don’t think I’ve ever use the Amerant app with Zelle and have had a successful transaction process that way; there has always been some ineffable or nebulous reason why my money was in limbo for days. I’ve called so many times, and then I’m invariably assured by the CSR that the technical support team will rectify this.
The Zelle application worked seamlessly on my Wells Fargo account.
unrelated, but still equally vexing, I don’t have an ATM at my Amerant location that takes cash, so unless I have a direct deposit, I have to go into a branch, and calculate how the funds are to apportioned in each account.
my husband is in graduate school, and most of his earnings. Come in as cash as he works part time as a server. I don’t know why we have to punctiliously Divide our money, and figure out bills ahead of time before we even put money in the bank, because the app won’t let us do that by pushing a button.
Outrageous in the extreme.

Horrible Banking Experience

At first glance this appears to be a nice bank, however that is not the case in my experience. I have not been able to use the mobile app or login to the website to review my account activity for 3 weeks now. Each of my painful calls to customer service were not helpful. I was told they can’t see my account status or balance and someone would call me back. That has not happened as of yet.

I expressed concern that I have no visibility of my account activity and was told again there was nothing they could do but promise another callback. These practices not only appear unethical, but borderline illegal. I do not recommend this bank unless you’re using it as a secondary account due to the unreliable service I’ve received.

Can’t paydown HELOC principal. External inbound transfers limited to acct balance

The only nice thing about this app
Is you can login with FaceID.

It has two major problems:
1. It doesn’t allow you to pay down your HELOC principal - the option shows but it’s greyed out
2. The limit you set on external inbound transfers from an outside bank to an Amerant account (via ACH) is ignored — you can only transfer the amount equal to the balance in your Amerant account
3. The emailed verification for outside, inbound transfers show as *outbound* transfers!!!

The problem 1 above also applies to the ameratbank.com web portal as well, so the only way you can pay down your HELOC is if you call your local branch. And then there’s a 24hour or longer wait because a manager has to approve HELOC principal pay down requests.
