What's New in AnalogTV

2.8

July 22, 2026

• Community Looks gallery: browse, search, and download presets shared by other users, and publish your own with one tap. • Live streams & video URLs: pipe an HLS or MP4 stream straight through the analog pipeline and watch it the way it would've looked on the tube. • iCloud sync: your saved Looks now follow you across your devices. • New built-in game: Turbo Track, a Sprint-style overhead racer (very much beta still) • External display output: send the clean, processed picture to a second screen or projector with none of the on-screen controls. • New "Original" app icon to choose from. • Stability and bug fixes, including a crash when playing the built-in space game on certain TV standards.

User reviews

Works well

It is a really well laid out app and it’s very fun to use.

Crazy App!!

Jesus, this app was obviously made with so much love and it shows. Really neat idea, the filters look legit. Would be cool to have some dev made presets to choose from in a future update!

Response from developer

Thanks for the idea. There are some presets in the AnalogCam portion of the app, but we are designing a way for users to also share presets as well. Stay tuned!

Amazing but confusing

I’m loving it, but I’m having difficulty. Every video I export comes out as black and white even though I export through the NTSC channel. Please help!

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. This bug is fixed in version 2.1.

The best VHS sim

The app is amazing, the best VHS sim out there. Back in the day everyone had a different VCR. So no simple filter can replicate your own experience, but this app can! There’s so many settings to dial in, you can achieve exactly the type of image you want (and there’s also presets). Plus, the Dev is super committed to his project.

Feature request

Maybe I’m missing something but I’m not seeing any options to input videos via files app.

Response from developer

Stand by for Version 2 which implements that feature. Prior to Version 2 you can only get to the photo album. V2 should be out within the next week or so pending Apple approval.

FAQ

What is AnalogTV?

AnalogTV is a physics-based simulation that recreates the entire analog television broadcast chain. It models everything from the camera tube to the CRT phosphor display, offering a realistic simulation rather than just a filter.

Does AnalogTV have ads?

AnalogTV does not contain advertisements. It is a paid application designed for a focused user experience without interruptions.

What camera tube models are available in AnalogTV?

AnalogTV includes models for Image Orthicon, Plumbicon, Vidicon, and CCD camera tubes. Each captures scenes with characteristic lag, halation, and MTF response.

How many phosphor types does AnalogTV offer?

AnalogTV features eight different phosphor types, including P22 color television, P31 oscilloscope green, and P4 black and white television. Each is calibrated from manufacturer datasheets and IEEE literature.

Can I adjust AnalogTV's settings like a real TV engineer?

Yes, AnalogTV provides access to a service menu where you can adjust parameters like RGB drive, convergence, focus voltage, and screen voltage. These controls operate at a physics level for realistic simulation.

How does AnalogTV simulate screen damage?

You can simulate screen damage in AnalogTV by pressing a virtual magnet against the faceplate to magnetize the shadow mask, creating purity damage. The magnetisation field persists across restarts, and a degauss function is available.

What is the price of AnalogTV?

AnalogTV is available for a one-time purchase of $4.99. There are no in-app purchases or subscription fees associated with the application.

How often is AnalogTV updated?

The latest version of AnalogTV is 2.5, which was last updated on June 20, 2026. Updates typically focus on refining the simulation and adding new features based on user feedback and technical advancements.
